Season 1 - Episode 22
We resume our episode this week on campus, where Sydney and Demetrius are walking towards the library.
Sydney: Well if things hadn’t ended so crazy with us, I wouldn’t have so many questions.
Demetrius: Things didn’t end crazy with us.
Sydney: Well not crazy but just…so……unfinished.
Sydney and Demetrius are interrupted by Sheena.
Sheena: Demetrius! Demetrius!
Demetrius and Sydney look over and see Sheena coming towards them.
Sheena: Demetrius! Demetrius! I’ve been lookin’ all over for you! Natalie had an accident! She had to be rushed to the Emergency Room!
Demetrius: What? Where is she!
Sheena: She fell down the stairs in front of the Caf! Come on! We have to go!
Demetrius: Where is she? Are the paramedics here?
Sheena: They already came to get her. They are already on the way to the hospital.
Sydney: Come on, we can take my car! I’ll drive you two over there!
Sheena, Demetrius and Sydney begin to run frantically towards the student parking lot.
Inside the Car...
Demetrius: What happened?
Sheena: I really don't know.! She was runnin’ behind Taylor and all of a sudden, she fell. I think she just lost her footin'. Taylor ran down to see if she was okay and she was unconscious.
Demetrius: Oh no. Oh baby, please be okay.
Sydney reaches over and grabs Demetrius by the hand.
Sydney: It’s goin’ to be okay, Demetrius. Try to calm down. I’m here for you.
Demetrius: Sheena, was she still unconscious when the ambulance got there?
Sheena: I think so. I’m not sure. I left to come and find you and………….oh my gosh, I forgot to call Nate!
Sheena searches for her cell phone in her purse. She finds it and dials Nate’s number.

Across campus at the Jewel House, Nathaniel and Jovan are sittin’
around, watching a game on television.Jovan (yelling at the TV): GO! AHH No! I can’t believe he just fumbled!
Nathaniel: That’s because your team sucks!
Jovan: Oh shut up! Like your team is that much better!
Jovan looks over at the time on his phone.
Nathaniel: Expectin’ a call?
Jovan: Nah, I was waitin’ for Joi to call me back. I called her earlier and she ain’t pick up.
Nathaniel: She got a late class?
Jovan: Not today.
Nathaniel: I’m sure she alright.
Jovan: Yeah I’m sure. But you know I gotta think about her and the baby so I get a lil worried when I don’t hear from her.
Nathaniel: Look at you steppin’ into the daddy role already.
Jovan: Yeah man…..
Nathaniel: So you ready?
Jovan: I might as well be.
Nathaniel: That’s cool.
Jovan: So why you ain’t out with LaRay tonight?
Nathaniel: Very funny, Jovan….
Jovan (laughing): What? Oh she still mad at you?
Nathaniel: You know she is!
Jovan: Well when you gon call and apologize?
Nathaniel: Why do I have to be the one to say I’m sorry?
Jovan: Cause you was wrong!
Nathaniel: Man, whatever.
Jovan: You just don’t want her to start asking you about that bag again.
You know you was wrong to have that girl’s bag in your room.Nathaniel: Yeah, man I know. But I won’t gonnna do nothin’ with that girl. I mean don’t get me wrong…..Sheena is nice and everything but Laray is my girl. I can’t do her like that.
Jovan: Well why don’t you tell her that instead of me?
Nathaniel: Cause man, you know how these girls are. They say they want the truth but when you try to give it to them, they don’t believe you no way!
Jovan: Yeah, that’s true. I don’t have that problem with Joi. We know everything about each other.
Nathaniel: Yeah, whatever…
Jovan: But for real, man, you need to call Laray. You know you miss her.
Nathaniel: Yeah, I do…..
Jovan: So call her.
Nathaniel picks his cell phone up to call Laray when it starts to ring. He looks down to see it’s Sheena.
Nathaniel: Yo, Jovan. It’s Sheena.
Jovan: Don’t pick up.
Nathaniel: You sure? It might be Nat. Sometimes she uses her phone.
Jovan: Nah. If it’s Nat, she’ll call you back. Trust me, that girl is nothin’ but trouble for you right now.
Nathaniel: Yeah, you right.
Nathaniel presses the ignore button and places the phone back down on the table.

Scene 1 Continued...
Sheena: He's not pickin' up!
Demetrius: That's weird cause he was at the house when I left.
Sydney: Maybe we should call Laray.
Sheena rolls her eyes.
Sheena: Uh, I don't have her number.
Sydney: Here, use my phone. I have her number.
Sheena (reaching for phone): Gee, thanks.
Sheena scrolls through Sydney's phone until she finds Laray's number.
Laray: Hey Syd! I'm sorry! I missed the Assembly board meeting, didn't I?
Sheena: Hello?
Laray: Syd?
Sheena: No, this is Sheena. I'm using Sydney's phone.
Laray: Oh hey, Sheena, what's up. Is everything okay with Sydney?
Sheena: Yeah, everything is fine. Well with Sydney, anyway. It's....it's....Natalie.
Laray: Oh my gosh! What's wrong?
Sheena: She had a fall outside the caf and........she had to be rushed to the hospital.
Laray begins to cry.
Laray: Oh no......that's terrible! What about Nate? Is he okay?
Sheena: That's why I'm calling. I tried to call and he didn't answer so I was hopin' you knew how to get a hold of him.
Laray: Well.....I can try........
Sheena: Laray, I need better than a try. We have to get a hold of Nate!
Laray: Okay! If I can't get him on the phone, I'll go over to the Jewel House.
Sheena: Thanks, Laray.
Laray: What hospital are you goin' to?
Sheena: Baldwin Memorial.
Laray: Okay. I'll find Nate and get over there as soon as we can.
Sheena: Thanks.
Sheena hangs up the phone as Sydney pulls up to the hospital. Demetrius jumps out of the car and begins to run towards the door.

Off campus at Baldwin Memorial hospital, the ambulance has arrived and Natalie has been rushed into the hospital.
Over the intercom: Paging Dr. Davenport! Paging Dr. Joseph Davenport to the ER. You are needed in the ER immediately! Paging Dr. Joseph Davenport.
Joseph: Nurse! What is it?
Nurse: Dr. Davenport, we just had a young lady brought in on the ambulance. She's a student at Ahpla. She had a bad fall and has been unresponsive since then.
Joseph: Okay. Where's the chart?
Nurse (handing him a chart): Patient name is Natalie Robertson, age nintee..
Joseph: Natalie Robertson?
Nurse: Yes, Dr. Do you know her?
Joseph: Yes. She's a good friend of my daughter's. Is Sheena here?
Nurse: No, Sir. Another girl was with her on the ambulance. I believe her name is Taylor. She's very upset and sitting out in the waiting room.
Joseph: What is the patient's current status?
Nurse: She's stable but she's still unconscious, which is of course why we paged you. I didn't realize she was a friend of your daughter's.
Joseph: It's okay, Judy. You did the right thing. I'll go check on her now. If you should see my daughter, please let me know right away.
Nurse: Yes, doctor.
Joseph walks back to back to find Natalie. As he is walking up, one of the other doctor's is walking out of the room.
Joseph: Jerome! What's going on? How is it looking?
Jerome (shaking his head): It's not looking good, Joe. It's not looking good at all.

Scene 2 Continued....
Nathaniel: Yo, Jovan. It’s Sheena.
Jovan: Don’t pick up.
Nathaniel: You sure? It might be Nat. Sometimes she uses her phone.
Jovan: Nah. If it’s Nat, she’ll call you back. Trust me, that girl is nothin’ but trouble for you right now.
Nathaniel: Yeah, you right.
Nathaniel presses the ignore button and places the phone back down on the table.
Jovan: That girl is after you for real!
Nathaniel: Yeah she is....and it don't help that Nat encourages her!
Jovan: Word?
Nathaniel: Yeah, man. I mean you know that's her soror and everything so I guess she has some dream in her mind of us being a couple.
Jovan: She don't like Laray?
Nathaniel: Man, I don't even think she really ever gave Laray a chance. Anybody that ain't Sheena wasn't worth gettin' to know in her opinion.
Jovan (laughs): Yeah and you know that sister of yours! Once she get her mind stuck on somethin', that's it!
Nathaniel: Yeah......that's my Nat!
Nathaniel's phone begins to ring again and he looks down to see it's Laray.
Nathaniel: Hmm.....it's Laray. I guess I ain't the only one who is sorry about the fight.
Jovan: What are you doin? Pick up the phone!
Nathaniel: Chill out. I can't pick up on the first ring! I don't wanna look too anxious.
The phone stops ringing.
Jovan: Yeah see! Now you missed her call!
Nathaniel: Man, chill. I'll call her back.
Nathaniel dials Laray's number.
Nathaniel looks over at Jovan while the phone is ringin' and mouths the words "watch this" and smiles.
Laray: Nate! Oh my gosh! I'm so glad you called me back!
Nathaniel: What's up........I'm glad you called me, girl.....
Laray: Nate! It's Natalie!
Nathaniel: What?
Laray: Natalie! She's been in an accident.
Nathaniel's face changes and Jovan realizes something is wrong.
Jovan: Nate, what is it?
Laray: Nate? Are you there?
Nathaniel: I'm here.
Laray: Did you hear what I said? Natalie had an accident! They had to rush her to the hospital!
Nathaniel sits there, feeling paralyzed. Jovan grabs the phone from him.
Jovan: Laray! Hello? Laray! It's Jovan! What is goin' on?
Laray: Jovan! Natalie had an accident and had to be rushed to the hospital! Where is Nate? Is he okay?
Jovan (looks over at Nathaniel): He's here. Don't worry, Laray. I got him. Where are they now?
Laray: Sheena said they were on the way to Baldwin Memorial.
Jovan: Okay. Thanks, Laray. I'll take him over there now.
Laray: Okay. I'll meet you guys over there.
Jovan: Alright. See you in a few. Bye.
Jovan hangs up the phone and without saying a word, picks up a sullen Nathaniel and takes him outside to the car, and they begin to drive over towards the hospital.

Scene 3 Continued...
Demetrius runs into the emergency room to the front desk.
Demetrius: Hello! Nurse! My girlfriend is here and I need to know what is goin' on.
Nurse: Sir, just calm down. What is your girlfriend's name?
Demetrius: Natalie Robertson.
Taylor: Demetrius!
Demetrius turns to see Taylor sittin' in the waitin' room, crying. He runs over to her.
Demetrius: Taylor! Where is Natalie? Is she okay?
Taylor: I don't know! I don't know anything! No one has been out here yet.
Sheena walks up behind them with Sydney.
Sheena: Hey Soror.
Taylor goes over to Sheena to hug her.
Taylor: Hey Sheena. Hey Sydney.
Sydney: Hey. Um...Demetrius, are you okay?
Demetrius: No I'm not okay! I'm goin' crazy over here not knowing anything!
Sheena: You know, I know some of the nurses here. Let me go see what I can find out.
Demetrius: Thanks, Sheena.
Sydney: Demetrius, honey, why don't you sit down over here?
Demetrius goes and sits down beside Sydney.
Demetrius: Taylor, how did this happen?
Taylor: I don't know! It's like.......she was runnin' behind me to talk to me and all of a sudden, she fell down the stairs. I mean it just all happened so fast! It's hard to say. I just.....I don't know.......(Taylor starts to cry again)
Demetrius: Don't cry, Taylor. It's gonna be okay. It has to be okay. Right? She's gonna be okay, right?
Sydney (putting her arms around Demetrius): Of course she's goin' to be okay, D. Just lean on me. I'm here for you...
The door opens and Jovan runs in with Nathaniel.
Sydney: Jovan! Nate!
Nathaniel: Hey soror. What's up ya'll. What's goin' on with with my sister? Any word?
Demetrius: Nah frat. Nothin' yet. We really just got here. Sheena went to the back to see if she could find somethin' out.
Nathaniel: Man this is unreal. I need to know what is goin' on.
Sydney: Did you call your mom and dad?
Nathaniel: Yeah, Jovan called them on the way over here. They are on their way.
Taylor: How long is the drive?
Nathaniel: About three hours.
Sheena comes rushing back over towards the group.
Sheena: Hey guys, the nurse said my dad is comin' out in a second to talk to us and let us know what is goin' on. Hey Nate.
Sheena opens her arms to give Nathaniel a hug. Nathaniel embraces Sheena as Dr. Davenport walks up.
Joseph: Hey everybody.
Everyone looks up.
Joseph: I just want to give you all a update on Natalie and what's goin' on. Normally, we don't give these kinds of updates to non family members but I've already spoken with your dad on the phone, Nate, and he told me it was okay to let you guys know what was goin' on with Natalie. Actually, let's go to my office so we can speak a bit more privately.
Sheena moves over closer to Nathaniel and grabs his hand and squeezes it tight. Just then Laray runs into the emergency room. She sees Sheena and Nathaniel holding hands and then walking off towards the elevator. Feeling crushed at the sight of Nathaniel and Sheena together, Laray turns and leaves the hospital in tears.
In Dr. Davenport's office....
Joseph: Everyone come in and close the door. Well.....I don't want to beat around the bush....Natalie is still unconscious. I did have a chance to examine Natalie and what I found was.....
Joseph pauses
Nathaniel: What is it, Dr. Davenport? Just say it! Is Natalie okay? Please tell me my sister isn't goin' to die!
