Season 1 - Episode 39

Over at the apartment of PJ, some of the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha have gathered for an emergency meeting.

Camille: Sorors, I'm glad that all of you could make it.  We have some serious business to talk about.

Sydney: Where's Soror Dashia?

Camille: She's out on a date. That's fine, we can just fill her in later.

Kennedy: A date? With who?

Camille: Joriah. But we need to talk about that later. This is important.

Sydney: What? The nupe?

Kennedy: Girl Joriah is fine, though!

Camille: Sorors! Please, we must focus! This is important.

Sydney: Sorry.

Kennedy: Sorry, Camille, What's the problem?

Camille: The problem is this!

Camille slams a piece of paper down on the coffee table. Kennedy and Sydney bend down to see what it is.

Kennedy: Is that a.....

Camille: Yes, it is. It is a denial to our request letter to the Greek Life office to take a line!

Sydney: What? But why?

Camille: There is no reason given! I don't understand!  P.J......what do we do?

P.J.: Don't worry, sorors. Leave it to me. I know how to handle Mona...

Over at the room of Laray and Krystalyn, the members of Zeta Phi Beta have gathered to finalize the plans for their membership intake.

Krystalyn: Okay sorors, so I think we're finally done with the letters.

Sy'Mone: I have all the letters and will be personally hand delivering them tomorrow.

Krystalyn: Okay, great. I think we are gonna have a really good line this year.

Laray: I think so, too.

Krystalyn: I"m really excited. Hopefully Joi will make it all the way through the line.

Laray: When is she due again?

Sy'Mone: Two months.

Krystalyn: Well I guess this is a good time to talk about her shower. Are we are all set and ready to go for that?

Sy'Mone: Yep! Everything is all set. The invites have all gone out. I ordered the cake and picked up the decorations.

Krystalyn: Good! And you're sure she doesn't suspect a thing?

Sy'Mone: I'm positive. She has no clue! I mean why would she ever think that you were be throwin' her a shower?

Krystalyn: Yeah, I guess you're right. Well I really want this to go over well. And I really want it to be a surprise.

Laray: I'm just glad it's this Saturday before we start the line.

Krystalyn: Yeah, tell me about it. Once the line starts, we definitely wouldn't be able to do this for her....oh that reminds me, I need to call Patrick about comin' over to videotape...

In the same apartment complex as P.J., Mona has just arrived home from set with her line.  As she goes to close her door, a hand pushes it back open. Mona turns around and is surprised to find P.J. standing on the other side.

Mona: Well hello soror!

P.J.: Mona.

Mona: Well is there somethin' I can help you with or are you just comin' to spend time with your line sister?

P.J.: Let's not play games tonight, Mona. You know exactly why I am here.

Mona: Well, come in...

P.J. walks past Mona into her apartment.

Mona: Would you like to sit?

P.J.: I won't be here long.

Mona: Why soror, you seem so hostile this evenin'...

P.J.: Why did you turn down the soror's application to bring in a line this semester?

Mona: I'm the Director of Greek Life at Ahpla P.J, just in case you forgot.

P.J.: And what does that mean?

Mona: It means I don't have to justify any of my decisions regarding greek life to you or anyone else.

P.J.: Mona, please don't start me with me tonight.

Mona: Start with you? You are the one who comes bustin' up into my apartment demanding that I give an explanation for a decision that my office has made!  So if that's all you came for, you might as well see your way on out of my door.

Mona begins to take her jacket off P.J. notices the AKA paddle layin up against the table.  She bends down to pick it up and realizes it's still cold from outside.

P.J.: Mona, where did you just come home from?

Mona: I had an appointment....why?

P.J.: An appointment that you needed to take your paddle to?

Silence

P.J.: Mona, what exactly are you up to?

Natalie looks up to find Sheena starring out of the window. Natalie turns to see what Sheena is looking at.

Natalie: Sheena, you okay?

Sheena: I think so but....

Natalie: Sheena, what's wrong?

Sheena: That coffee shop across the street.

Natalie turns back to look at it.

Natalie: Yeah....

Sheena: I think that's my dad's car outside of it. But wha......what would he be doin' out here?

Natalie: Are you sure that's his car?

Sheena: Yeah, I'm sure. See.......the Omega Psi Phi plate frame on the back.... I got him that last year for Father's day.

Natalie: Well maybe he's just having some coffee. I mean it is a coffee shop, Sheena.

Sheena: Yeah, but what is he doin' out there? The hospital isn't close to here.

Natalie: Well I don't know. Maybe he's havin' coffee with one of his co workers or soemthin'. Or maybe he likes to come out here to get some peace. You found this place so maybe he did too.

Sheena: Yeah, you're probably right......but I think I'll walk over real quick and say hi just to make sure he's okay.....

Natalie: Okay. I'll wait for you over here.

Sheena: Cool. Order me the chicken fingers basket. I'll be right back.

Scene 2 Continued...

Sy'Mone: Okay sorors, I will see you on Saturday.

Krystalyn: Okay. Make sure you call before you come over with Joi.

Sy'Mone: I know!

Laray: See ya later, soror!

Sy'Mone gives Laray a quick hug before leaving.

Laray: I am so tired!

Krystalyn: I know. Me too. I am so excited about this shower. I think Joi is goin' to be really surprised.

Laray: You really like Joi, don't you?

Krystalyn: I really do! I don't know why but I just do! Anyway, let me call Pat real quick before I forget.

Laray: Okay cool. I'm bout to hop in the shower.

Krystalyn picks up her cell phone and begins to dial Patrick's number.

Patrick: Hello? What's up, Krys.

Krystalyn: Hey baby. What are you doin'?

Patrick: Not much. I think I was half asleep.

Krystalyn: Aww I'm sorry!

Patrick: Why you up so late?

Krystalyn: You know we bout to take a line, so the sorors were all together tryin' to finalize everything.

Patrick: Oh, alright.

Krystalyn: Well hey...I guess I won't talk long since you are asleep. I really just wanted to see if you could do me a favor.

Patrick: What's up?

Krystalyn: I'm doin' a surprise baby shower for Joi this weekend and I wanted to see if you could come and videotape it for me....

Across the street at the diner, Sheena walks into the door and looks around for her father.  She doesn't see him and begins to walk outside when the hostess catches her attention.

Hostess: Excuse me, ma'am, can I help you with somethin'?

Sheena: Oh, no thank you. I thought my father was here. I could have sworn that was his car outside....

Hostess: Oh okay. 

Sheena: Well thanks, anyway...

Sheena turns to leave

Hostess: Oh wait, ma'am! 

Sheena: Yes?

Hostess: There was a gentleman here earlier. Very tall, salt and pepper hair........

Sheena: Yeah, that's him!

Hostess: He was here by himself for awhile but then he left.

Sheena: Did someone pick him up?

Hostess: I'm not really sure.......oh you know........someone did come in to meet him. A woman....

Sheena: A woman?

Hostess: Yeah.......she was medium height.....short hair.......

Sheena: Oh! That was my mother! Okay well thanks, again!

Hostess: No problem! Have a good evening!

Sheena walks out and goes back across the street.

Natalie: So did you see your dad?

Sheena: Nope. Come to find out, he was meetin' my mom here!!!

Natalie: What?

Sheena: Yeah, I know! I guess they were havin' a date or somethin'.........who knows.....

Natalie: Aww that's sweet!!!

Sheena: Yeah, it is. My folks are like that, though....all lovey dovey....

Natalie: Well I ordered our food.....hopefully it will be........

Sheena's phone begins to ring. She looks down to see it's her mom.

Sheena: Oh look who it is.....

Sheena opens her phone.

Sheena: Hey mom!

Carsen: Hi Sheena. How are you?

Sheena: I'm great...........so what are you up to?

Carsen: Oh nothin'. Just at home watchin' a movie.

Sheena: Oh a movie at home, huh? Good one, mom.

Carsen: Yeah.... 

Sheena: It's okay mom! I'm out here at the restaurant across the street from the coffeehouse.

Carsen: what coffeehouse?

Sheena: The one you picked dad up from. I'm sittin' here lookin' at his car and the hostess told me that you came to pick him about an hour ago.

Carsen: Sheena, what on earth are you talkin' about?

Sheena: Mom.......you didn't pick dad up from the coffee shop?

Carsen: I told you I am at home.

Sheena: Well.........if it wasn't you, then..........who was it?
