Season 1 - Episode 4
Our story resumes across campus outside the Ahpla University Athletic Center where football player Kyle has just bumped into his cousin, Kiaterria.
Kiaterria: I do have a man, thank you very much! And if you ever bothered to pick up your phone when I call, you would know that! Matter of fact, there he is right now!
Kyle turns around to see Jeff exiting the building.
Kiaterria: Hi honey! How’s my Jeffy doing today?
Jeff: Hey! What's up boo!
Jeff walks over and gives Kiaterria a hug and a kiss.
Jeff: Sup Kyle.
Silence
Jeff: Yo, Kyle.......I said what's up man!
Kyle: Sup.
Jeff: I see my boo finally told you about us!
Kyle: Yeah.
Jeff: Baby, guess what? Coach named me team captain today!
Kiaterria: Oh my gosh! Honey! That's great! I'm so proud of you!
Jeff: Thanks, baby!
Kiaterria: Kyle, you ain't even tell me! That's great news!
Kyle: Yeah, real great.
Jeff: Kyle, what's up man?
Kyle steps close to Jeff.
Kyle: Look, Jeff.....just stay out my way and I'll stay out of yours.
Jeff: What? What's going on?
Kyle: Don't play that game. I was supposed to be team captain and you know it.
Jeff: Eh man, I don't make the decisions. If you have a problem with me being captain, you need to talk to Coach Stevens.
Kyle: Nah, what I need to do is get to convocation. And what you need to do is exactly what I said- stay out of my way.
Kyle walks past Jeff and Kiaterria before Jeff can respond. He purposely bumps into Jeff's shoulder as he walks away.
Across campus, inside Spencer Hall, Denitra in moving into her room.
Denitra (to her brother): Gary! Thank for helping me move. I don't know where Joriah is. He promised he would meet me at 10 to help me move. You're the best big brother ever!
Gary: Yeah, whatever! Stop trying to get on my good side! Ain't that opening ceremony thing today?
Denitra: Yeah, but he said he wasn't goin' so he could help me move in.
Gary: Well maybe somethin' came up. I wouldn't sweat it. Alright lil sis, I gotta get back on this road.
Denitra: Okay that's cool....I understand.......thanks a lot, G.
Gary: Anytime, anytime! Tell J I said what's up!
Denitra: Cool. Call me when you get back home so I know you got there okay.
Gary: No problem.
Gary gives Denitra and a hug and then leaves. Denitra calls Joriah's cell phone again.
Voicemail picking up: Yo Yo! You've reached yo man, Joriah. You know what to do. Peace.
Denitra: Hey baby! Where are you? I thought you were going to help me move in! I hope everything is okay. Well anyway, Gary helped me get all my stuff upstairs so you don't have to rush over or anything. I'm gonna go ahead and get my room set up. I miss you baby. Call me back. Love you. Smooches!
Denitra hangs up the phone and begins setting up her room. She kisses a framed photo of her and Joriah before setting it down on her desk.
Denitra's Cell Phone Rings
Denitra: Hello?
Karissa: Girl!
Denitra: Karissa?
Karissa: Yeah girl! Who else! Where you at?
Denitra: You know I just got back from my summer abroad so I'm just moving in.
Karissa: We have an emergency.
Denitra: What kind of ermergency?
Karissa: The kind of emergency where I'm over here at convocation and your man has been all up in Dashia's face all day!
Denitra: Girl what are you talking about? You sure? He was probably just sayin' hi.
Karissa: Nitra. Do you go up and kiss people on the lips that you are just sayin' hi to?
Denitra: You saw him kiss her?
Karissa: With my own eyes, girl! Got it on my camera phone too! You need to get over here. You know I got your back.
Denitra: I'm on my way over there right now. I don't know who she think she messin; with but that is my man and I don't play that. I am not that one! She must have me confused but she won't in a few minutes!
Outside of the auditorium, Taylor is waiting for Kashawn.
Taylor: KaShawn!
Kashawn hears his name and turns around to see Taylor.
Kashawn walks over to where Taylor is standing.
Kashawn: What's up girl!
Taylor: Hey baby!
Taylor leans in to kiss Kashawn.
Kashawn moves quickly out her way so she misses.
Kashawn: Hey girl.......I told you......I'm not ready for all that
Taylor: Not ready for what, Kashawn? For everybody to know we are a couple?
Kashawn: I told you, Taylor.......it's just better this way for now.
Taylor: But Kashawn, I love you!
Kashawn: I love you too, Taylor. But it's just......
Taylor: it's just what? You don't want people to know you have a white girlfriend?
Kashawn: Naw girl, it ain't nothing like that.
Taylor: Really, Kashawn? Than what is it?
Kashawn: It's just.......just that........
Kashawn is interrupted by Laci.
Laci: Hi Soror! Hi Kashawn!
Taylor: Hey Soror.
Kashawn: Whats up Laci!
Laci: Kashawn, how was your summer?
Kashawn: It was straight. You?
Laci: It was great. As a matter of fact, I'd love to tell you all about it but we really need to get inside to convocation. Maybe we can talk about it tonight over dinner.
Taylor is getting angry.
Kashawn: Um.......well.....
Laci: Well what? We're both single adults so what's the big deal. Well at least I know I'm single. Are you seeing somebody now?
Taylor: Good question! So, Kashawn, are you seeing anybody?
