Season 1 - Episode 40 We resume our episode this week at the Jewel house where the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha have gathered for a meeting. Jovan: Brothers! We have a lot to talk about so let's go ahead and get started. Brian, give us an update on the Diversity Step. Brian: Brothers, the Diversity Step plans are goin' well. We finally have participation from all of the greek letter orgs on campus. Tickets are goin' on sale next week with inflation at the door, of course. Jovan: Okay, great. And is everything booked for that night? Brian: Oh yeah, everything is straight. I already met with the AV department and booked a D.J. Devaughn: What's up with the after party? Is that booked? Brian: Frat, that's all you worried about! Devaughn: I'm just sayin'! Brian: I'm still workin' on that. Devaughn: Well you know if you need any help in that department..... Brian: Yeah, yeah, I know... Jovan: Alright brothers, let's get focused. Brian, do you have anything else? Brian: Not today. Jovan: Thanks. Next up, we need to talk about the Health Fair with the AKA's. Demetrius, can you give us a report on that, please? Demetrius: The Health Fair is all set up and ready to go. We're set for two weeks from Saturday. It's going to be held from 10-2 and we have people set up to test blood glucose levels, height, weight, cholesterol, and thanks to Brother Brian....Planned Parenthood is also comin' out this year. They are goin to be set up doing sex education workshops and also free and confidential HIV testing. Jovan: Great! Sounds good. Great job, Brian on gettin' Planned Parenthood to come out and help this year. Demetrius, is that everything? Demetrius: Yep, that's it for now. I will need everyone there and on time. Since it's only a 4 hour fair, everyone is expected to work the entire event. There's no need to break it up into shifts. Jovan: Okay great, we'll all be there. Now....Nate.... Nathaniel: Okay Brothers, I think we know the last thing we need to talk about today. Our new line.... _________________________________________________________________________________________ Off campus at Kashawn's apartment, Laci has arrived to talk to him about Taylor. From inside the apartment, Shakir begins to yell. Shakir: Taylor? Shawn, that was you? Dag frat! Why you ain't say nothin'! Laci: Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know you had company. Kashawn: Yeah, it's alright. Laci: Oh well like I was sayin'.......Taylor is really upset, and.... Kashawn: You know what, Laci........let me stop you right there....Taylor and I will never be back together and I'm gonna tell you exactly why.... Silence Kashawn: You know what? Let's talk outside in private. KaShawn steps out the door to talk to Laci. KaShawn: Like I was sayin', Taylor and I will never be back together. Laci: But why? She made it seem like you two are really in love. KaShawn: Yeah, well maybe we were. But she changed all that. I guess she ain't tell you what happened last time I went over there, huh? Laci: Yeah, she told me. KaShawn: Okay then, so you already know why we ain't gettin' back together. I can't trust her, Laci. That was messed up what she did. Laci: I know it was. And she does, too. But she was hurt and didn't think you guys were gettin' back together. She made a mistake, Shawn. She don't want him. She wants you. You can't at least think about forgivin' her? KaShawn: Laci, I don't know....I mean how can I trust her after that? Laci: I know it's hard. Trust me, I know better than anybody. I feel like I'm always gettin' mixed up with the wrong guy. But Taylor really loves you, Shawn. I know if you gave her another chance, she would show you that you can trust her again. KaShawn: I don't know. Taylor: Shawn... KaShawn turns around and sees Taylor standing in the hall. Taylor: If you want me to leave, I understand, but I just had to see you. I had to talk to you myself. Jovan: Okay great, we'll all be there. Now....Nate.... Nathaniel: Okay Brothers, I think we know the last thing we need to talk about today. Our new line.... Devaughn: They are horrible! Nathaniel: Don't talk about my boys like that! Devaughn: Man they ain't even know basic stuff! Nathaniel: Okay I'll admit they were not prepared that first night, but I got em straight. They gon be ready for ya'll next time. Devaughn: Which is when? Nathaniel: Tomorrow night. Devaughn: Yeah, alright. We'll see. All I know is if they don't shape up better than they are now, they gon be on line for a long time... Nathaniel: Oh they definitely still got awhile to go... Jovan: Right now, we the only frat that's got a line, though so that's good. Demetrius: Yeah. I know the Zeta's got a line goin' right. Jovan: Yeah. I heard the soror's tryin' to bring some girls through, too. Brian: Oh yeah, they are...my girl is on line. Nathaniel: Lashonda? Wow. I ain't even know she was interested... Demetrius: Are you sure? Brian: Am I sure what? Demetrius: That's she's on line for AKA? Brian: Yeah, man, why? Demetrius: Cause....you know me and Syd workin' pretty close together for Assembly and she told me they were just startin'...I mean they haven't even sent out invitation letters yet.... Brian: Well I been dropping her off for her sets like 3 times a week for the past month. And I know she's on line for somethin' cause she been studying that AKA history book like crazy! Jovan: That's weird. Cause the sorors definitely would have told us by now if they were runnin' a line.... Nathaniel: Well if the sorors aren't doin' a line yet.....then who is? _________________________________________________________________________________________ Over at the library, Kiaterria is scrolling through her cousin Kyle's phone. Text Message: Hey. Call me when u can. I need 2 c u again. Last night was AMAZING. After the 1st time, I didn't think it could get n-e betta. I was wrong... Kiaterria cannot believe what she is reading and continues to scroll through his messages for more. She sees one more for this afternoon. Text Message: Okay I'll hit u up and u can come by when u leave the library. I can't wait. I'll b sure 2 wear my purple and gold thong... She quickly switches over to his sent messages folder to see what Karissa was responding to. Text Message: Yeah, it was good. Gotta go 2 the library around 6, but hit me up so we can c what up 4 2nite. Kiaterria is in shock at what she is reading, when she hears Kyle's voice interrupting her. Kyle: Tee, what are you doin'? Kiaterria looks up at him with surprise and disappointment on her face. Kiaterria: What am I doin'? No, Kyle, the real question is what are you doin'? For real, cuz? You're sleepin' with Karissa? How could you! Kyle reaches over and angrily snatches his phone out Kiaterria's hand. Kyle: Why you goin' through my stuff? Kiaterria: Excuse me? That's all you got to say? Kyle: You had no right to go through my phone, Tee. That's my personal business! Kiaterria: Kyle! You dirty dog! I can't believe you! Silence Kiaterria: How long has this been goin' on? Silence Kiaterria: Are you serious? You're just gonna sit there and act like you don't hear me? Wow. I thought we were better than that, Kyle. Kyle: What do you want me to say, Tee? You want me to tell you I been messin' with Stasha and Karissa at the same time? Is that what you want to hear? Kiaterria: No, it's not what I want to hear! But I do if it's the truth! Is it? Silence Kiaterria: Wow, cuz. I guess that's my answer. Kyle: So now what? You gon run and tell Stasha? Kiaterria: I thought you loved her! You told me you were goin' to marry her. Kyle: I am! I do love her. This whole thing is just a big mess. It wasn't supposed to be...... Kiaterria: It wasn't supposed to be what, Kyle? Silence Kiaterria: Look, cuz....I know you ain't a bad guy. I know my auntie did not raise you to be like this. I don't know what or how this started, but you need to end it now. In the end, somebody is goin' to get hurt. Kyle: I know. Kiaterria: I'm serious, Kyle. If you really want to make this thing work with Stasha, you have to stop whatever it is you and Karissa have goin' on. Kyle: Aight. I'll talk to Karissa. Kiaterria: Oh no, please.....leave Karissa to me... _________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 2 Continued... Taylor: Shawn... KaShawn turns around and sees Taylor standing in the hall. Taylor: If you want me to leave, I understand, but I just had to see you. I had to talk to you myself. Please....will you give me just five minutes of your time... Kashawn looks away and stares at the ground in silence. Taylor: Okay, I guess I have to respect that.... Taylor turns to walk away. Kashawn: Taylor, wait... Taylor turns back and looks at him. Kashawn: Five minutes. Taylor smiles: Oh thank you, Shawn. Laci: Um, I guess I'll leave you two alone. Shawn, is it okay for me to wait inside your place? Kashawn: Sure. But watch out for Shakir.... Laci: Okay! Laci turns and goes inside Kashawn's apartment and closes the door behind her. Silence Kashawn: Your five minutes is goin' fast so I think you should start talkin'. Taylor: Shawn, I don't know what to say. I'm sorry. I love you. Kashawn: That's what you came over to say? Taylor: Yes. Shawn, you won't return any of my calls! Kashawn: Would you? Silence Taylor: I guess I should try to explain....see....things with us are just so complicated. It's like we were so happy and then...you would never admit to bein' with me. And that hurt me so much, Shawn. You just don't understand how bad that made me feel. It was like as long as we were by ourselves, everything was cool, but out on campus, you acted like you ain't even know me. It made me feel so low. I was wonderin' why I wasn't good enough for you to out with in public? So honestly, I never really thought we were gettin' back together. I gave you so many chances to come clean about our relationship and every time, you left me hangin'. So I moved on. But the thing is....I really didn't. I mean I might have been with Devaughn that night but that's all it was, baby. All I ever do is think about you. I miss you. I miss us. Baby, what we have is so good. Please don't throw it away over some stupid mistake I made. I mean we were both wrong in this situation. Why don't we just start over and see if we can get it right this time? Kashawn: How were we both wrong? Okay yeah I was wrong cause I wouldn't tell people about us, but Taylor...you let some other man get with you. How am I supposed to just let that go? We get back together and Devaughn will be tellin' all his frat brothers what ya'll did. Everybody on campus will be laughin' at me. Silence Taylor: So that's it, then? It's over? Just like that? Kashawn: Yep, Taylor....unfortunately, it is. It's over. Just like that.... __________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 3 Continued... Kiaterria arrives at Karissa's room and knocks on the door. Karissa (opening door): Oh Kiaterria...hey... Kiaterria: What's up......soror. Karissa: Um, nothin'. Silence Karissa: Are you okay? Kiaterria: Where is your roommate? Karissa: At the lab. Why? Kiaterria: Can we talk inside? Karissa: Sure.....come in.... Karissa steps aside as Kiaterria walks in. Karissa closes the door behind her. Karissa: Um, did you wanna sit? Kiaterria: No, but you might want to. Karissa: Okay, really.....what is wrong with you? Kiaterria: What is wrong with me is I thought we were sisters. Karissa: Okay.....I thought so, too.... Kiaterria: Then why are you messin' around with my cousin behind Stasha's back? Silence Kiaterria: Oh now you have nothin' to say? Karissa: I don't know what you are talkin' about. Kiaterria: I'm talkin' about you and Kyle! I know what ya'll been up to! Karissa: Again, I don't know what you are talkin' about. Kiaterria: I can't even believe you are gonna sit up here and lie to me right to my face! Karissa: I'm not lyin' to you about anything. And I can't believe you would come over here and accuse me of somethin' like that. Kiaterria: Karissa I saw the messages in his phone that you sent him! Karissa: I haven't sent anything to Kyle. I have a boyfriend. Shakir, remember? Kiaterria: Karissa, I am so pissed at you right now for lying to me! Karissa: And I am so pissed at you for comin' to my room with this B.S.! Besides even if it was true, what you gonna do? Tell Stasha? Kiaterria: No, I'm not because unlike you, I actually care about her feelings! Karissa: Tee, I love you, but you need to get out of my room right now if that's all you came over here to talk about. Kiaterria: I'm not goin' anywhere until you tell me the truth! Karissa: I did tell you the truth. If it's not what you wanted to hear, sorry! Kiaterria: Let me tell you something, Karissa. Stasha is a sweet girl. She's sensitive and I do not want to see her get hurt. Stay away from Kyle or else...I mean it, Karissa. If I find out that you been messin' with my cousin again.....next time, I'm not gonna be this nice....
