Season 1 - Episode 44 We resume our episode this week at the coffeehouse, where Kashawn is sitting, typing on his laptop when Laci, Taylor's soror walks in. Kashawn looks up and sees her walk in. Kashawn: Hey Laci! Laci: Oh Kashawn! Hey! Kashawn: Surprise to see you in here. Come talk to me! Laci: Okay, I will. Just let me grab a coffee. Kashawn: Okay. Laci comes over and sits with Kashawn. Laci: Hey Shawn. What's up......how you been.... Kashawn: Ehh I'm okay, I guess...what about you? Laci: I'm good. Just workin' hard in school. And givin' everything else I got to DST. Kashawn: Yeah, I know how that is. Greek life is not joke! Laci: Right! Kashawn: So uh....how's Taylor? Laci: Not good. Kashawn: Hmm. Laci: Shawn, can't you forgive her? Can't you at least try? Kashawn: You know what? I don't even wanna talk about it. I don't even know why I brought it up. Silence Kashawn: So let's talk about you instead. Laci: About me? Kashawn: Sure! Laci: What about me? Kashawn: Whatever. I mean we always speak or whatever, but I've never really gotten to talk to you. So tell me about yourself. Tell me about the mysterious Laci... _________________________________________________________________________________________ Over at the Omega Psi Phi house, Kyle is home alone. He picks up his phone to dial Stasha's number Stasha: Hey baby! Kyle: What's up girl. Stasha: What you up to? Kyle: Nothin'. I was callin' to see what you was doin'. Feel like some company? Stasha: From you? Always! Kyle: Cool. I should be over there in about an hour. I got some stuff I need to finish up and then I'm gonna hit the shower. Stasha: Okay. Cool. You spendin' the night? Kyle: Is that an invitation? Stasha starts to giggle. Kyle: Well? Stasha: Yes! Kyle: Alright....I guess I will then.... Stasha: Okay. So I'll see ya in an hour then. Kyle: Alright. Stasha: Love you! Kyle: Love you too. Kyle hangs up the phone and begins to get up to get into the shower. He goes upstairs and turns the water on to get hot. He quickly runs into his room and begins packing his duffle bag when he hears the doorbell ringing. Kyle thinks: Dag. Who the heck is that at the door.... Kyle runs into the bathroom and turns off the shower before runnin' down the stairs. The doorbell rings again. Kyle: I'm comin'! Kyle runs and opens the door and is surprised to find Karissa waiting on the other side. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 1 Continued.. Laci: About me? Kashawn: Sure! Laci: What about me? Kashawn: Whatever. I mean we always speak or whatever, but I've never really gotten to talk to you. So tell me about yourself. Tell me about the mysterious Laci... Laci: Oh I'm mysterious now? Kashawn: I mean, you are to me. Laci giggles and playfully pulls her hair behind her ear. Laci: Well.........I'm a Delta.............. Kashawn: Okay girl, tell me somethin' I don't know! Laci: Hmm.......let's see. I'm a Zoology major. I bet you didn't know that. Kashawn: No, I didn't! What in the world would make you want to major in Zoology? Laci: I don't know. I mean I really like animals. Kashawn: And what do you plan to do with a degree in Zoology? Laci: I'm not sure. I mean I've kinda toyed around with the idea of Medical School...you know...becoming a vet....but really, in my heart I'm a writer... Kashawn: Oh yeah? What you got? Laci: What? Kashawn: I said what you got? Spit somethin' for me real quick. Laci: I can't just recite somethin' on the spot! Kashawn: Why not? I thought you writer types were always ready! Laci: You writer types? Kashawn and Laci start to laugh. Kashawn: My bad. I ain't mean nothin' by it. You real cool, though, Laci. So what's a girl like you doin' single? Laci: I don't know. I guess I just ain't found the right one. Kashawn lightly places his hand on top of Laci's Kashawn: Or maybe the right one just ain't found you yet.... _______________________________________________________________________________________ At the home of Joseph and Carsen Davenport, Sheena and Natalie are about to leave from dropping something off when Carsen pulls up into the driveway. Sheena: Hey soror mommy! Carsen: Hey baby. Hey Natalie. Natalie: Hi Soror Davenport! Carsen: You girls headed out? Sheena: Yeah. I was just droppin' off that bag you asked me for. Carsen: Bag? Sheena: Yeah! Remember you said that you were gonna surprise daddy with a cruise and you wanted my DST duffle to take with you? Carsen: Oh. Right. Yeah, thanks honey. I don't think I'll be needing it anymore, though. Sheena: Oh. Okay. Silence Sheena: Mom, is everything okay? You seem kinda down. Carsen: Yeah, I'm okay. You girls be safe goin' back to campus, okay? Sheena: Sure, mom. I hope you feel better....whatever it is. Carsen: Oh trust me, I will, sweetheart. I'm about to get rid of everything that's causin' me not to feel well real soon. Sheena: Okay ma. I'll call you later. Sheena goes to give her mother a hug before gettin' into her car and pullin' off. Carsen goes into the house and pours herself a glass of wine before sitting on the couch. Feeling angry, betrayed, and hurt at what she has just witnessed, she feels herself beginning to cry. She lays her head down on the couch and closes her eyes. Just as she does this, she hears the front door open. She opens her eyes to find Joseph standing in front of her. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 2 Continued... Kyle runs into the bathroom and turns off the shower before runnin' down the stairs. The doorbell rings again. Kyle: I'm comin'! Kyle runs and opens the door and is surprised to find Karissa waiting on the other side. Kyle: Karissa. Karissa: Hey Kyle. Kyle: Didn't think I'd really see you too much anymore. Karissa: And why's that? Kyle: Tee told me about her little conversation with you. Karissa: Oh. That. Silence Karissa: Can I come in? Kyle: Oh sure. Karissa walks past Kyle and stops past the doorway. Karissa: I don't really wanna stay long. I just needed to come by and tell you a few things. Kyle: Okay... Karissa: Shakir and I.......well.........we've uh worked things out..... Kyle: Really? Karissa: Yeah. Kyle: I thought he was cheatin' on you. Karissa: He was. But he swore to me that he stopped and.... Kyle: And you believed him? Karissa: Why wouldn't I? Kyle: Nothin'. I hope you used a condom. Karissa: Excuse me? What is that supposed to mean? Kyle: Nothin'. Karissa: Kyle if you have somethin' to say, just say it. Kyle: All I'm sayin' is you already know that dude is shady.... Karissa: And you are what? The model of a faithful boyfriend? Kyle: I didn't say that. All I'm sayin' is this dude is never gonna see you for who you really are. Karissa: And what is that? Kyle: A beautiful and smart girl. You deserve a lot better than that. Karissa: Yeah, well better than that is already taken. Better than that is practically engaged to my line sister. So for now, I guess I have to just take what I can get. Kyle: No, you don't. You're settlin', Karissa. Karissa: That's sweet, Kyle. Thanks. You always know what to say. Kyle: You a real cool girl too, Karissa. Karissa: Friends? Kyle: No doubt. Karissa: Well can a friend give another friend a hug? Kyle: I don't see why not. Karissa leans in and hugs Kyle tightly. She begins to caress his back. Karissa(whispering into Kyle's ear): Can a friend give another friend a kiss? Kyle doesn't respond and Karissa leans back and looks into Kyle's eyes and gives him a deep, passionate kiss. Karissa: Can a friend come upstairs to another friend's room for one last night together? Kyle doesn't say a word, but takes Karissa by the hand and begins to lead her upstairs toward's his bedroom.... _________________________________________________________________________________________ Sheena goes to give her mother a hug before gettin' into her car and pullin' off. Carsen goes into the house and pours herself a glass of wine before sitting on the couch. Feeling angry, betrayed, and hurt at what she has just witnessed, she feels herself beginning to cry. She lays her head down on the couch and closes her eyes. Just as she does this, she hears the front door open. She opens her eyes to find Joseph standing in front of her. Joseph: Hey. Were you sleepin'? Carsen: No. Silence Carsen: I just got home. Joseph: Oh. Kinda late for you. Were you out with Sheena? Carsen: No. I was out alone. Joseph: Okay.... Carsen: Hospital was busy tonight huh? Joseph: Yeah......you know........paperwork, paperwork, and more paperwork. Carsen: Hmm. So you were at the hospital all night doin' paperwork? Joseph: Yeah.... Silence Joseph: Well, I had a long day so I think I'm gonna get in the shower and head to bed. Carsen: I was......out driving around and I uh.......saw your car. Joseph: Oh you did? Carsen: Yeah, I did. It was outside of a restaurant and I thought.......that looks just like Joe's car....but it can't be because he told me he was workin' late at the hospital. But then I got closer and I realized it was your car. So I thought....oh wow.......maybe I'll go run in and surprise him. It would be so nice to have a nice dinner out together for once. So imagine my surprise when I looked into the restaurant and saw that you already had a dinner companion. Silence Carsen: You're not goin' to say anything? Joseph: Carsen, what do you want me to say? Carsen (beginning to cry): I want you to tell me that you're not havin' an affair with Melinda and that what I saw was just an innocent dinner between friends. I want you to tell me that you were meetin' with her to plan a surprise birthday party for me. I want you to tell me that you just happened to run into her there and decided to sit together for the company. I want you to tell me anything that will stop this knot that's been turning in my stomach ever since I saw you with her tonight! Joseph: Carsen.... Carsen: No. No. No Joe. Don't you say it! Don't you dare say it! Joseph: Carsen.....I'm so, so sorry.....I never wanted you to find out this way..... Carsen grabs her chest and begins to hyperventilate and sob. Carsen: Joe, why! Why! How could you do this to our family? Are you in love with her? Joseph goes over and grabs Carsen and pulls her to his chest. Joseph: I'm sorry, Carsen. I swear I didn't want to hurt you... Carsen lays into Joseph's chest for a few minutes and begins to weep. She allows him to hold her tightly while she cries. She cries for herself and for him. She cries for their children. She has quick flashes of family vacations, birthday's, anniversaries, graduations, and other happy moments they've shared together. Suddenly, she feels completely overtaken with anger and pushes away from him. Carsen: Get out! Joseph: Carsen... Carsen: Get out, Joseph Davenport! I mean it! Get out! Now! And you tell that Melinda Ferguson she'll be sorry she ever messed with my husband when I get through!
