Season 1 - Episode 45 We resume our episode this week with Jovan and Joi at the Jewel House. Joi: Hey baby! Jovan: Hey. Joi: Whatcha up to? Jovan: Just goin' over some stuff for the frat. Whats up? Joi: Nothin'. Just thought I'd come by. I haven't seen or talked to you since the shower. You were so quiet droppin' me off and then you haven't called me. I just thought I'd stop by and see if you were okay. DeVaughn let me in. Was that okay? Jovan: Of course it was okay. Joi: So......um.........how was class today? Jovan: Okay. Joi: Hmm. And uh......how are things goin' for the frat? Everything all set for the health fair? Jovan: Yep. Joi: Great. Silence Joi: Jovan, is something wrong? Jovan: Nope. Joi: Are you sure? Jovan: Why? Should there be something wrong? Joi: What do you mean? Jovan: Just what I said. Should there be something wrong with me, Joi? Joi: Um.......no.......I don't think so. Jovan: Really? Joi: Jovan, what is goin' on? You're startin' to scare me. Jovan: Did you know that Brian was doin' an internship at the Planned Parenthood clinic this semester? Silence Jovan: Oh don't get quiet now. Joi: Jovan... Jovan: Jovan what? Joi, I thought we had an agreement. You lied to me....and I want to know why.... _________________________________________________________________________________________ Across campus at the cafeteria, Denitra and her "line sister", LaShonda are having lunch together. LaShonda: This food is disguising. Denitra: I don't even know how they can call this food. LaShonda: It was so much better in here freshman year. Denitra: Yeah before the old manager retired. LaShonda: Oh well....this is all I'll be eatin' for awhile. Denitra: Yeah, I know. Me too. I can't afford anything else after that huge check I had to write to Mona for the process. LaShonda: Yeah, really. But hey...it's worth it. Denitra: Oh definitely! LaShonda looks over Denitra's shoulder and spots Joriah walking in with Dashia. LaShonda: Oh shoot. Don't look now. Denitra turns around quickly and spots Joriah and Dashia. LaShonda: I said not to look! Denitra turns back around and has a sad look on her face. LaShonda: You okay? Denitra: I guess....I mean...I get it....he's moved on. LaShonda: Yeah...and with one of our future sorors at that... Denitra: Yeah, I know. Denitra Sighs Denitra: Oh well... Just then Tierra walks up to Denitra and LaShonda's table. Tierra: Hey ya'll.... _________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 1 Continued.... Joi: Jovan... Jovan: Jovan what? Joi, I thought we had an agreement. You lied to me....and I want to know why.... Joi: Jovan, I don't know what to say... Jovan: Fine. Joi: Jovan don't be like that... Jovan: Don't be like what? I told you in the beginning when we first started dating and you told me you were pregnant that I would raise this child like it was my own. I love you Joi and I intend to love the baby just like it's mine. So why do you still feel the need to involve Patrick in this situation? Joi: Jovan, just hear me out... Jovan: I'm listening. Joi: You know that I love you, Jovan. I would never want to take anything away from you. And I think it is so unbelievably awesome that you want to be here for me and my baby... Jovan: So then why were you making an appointment for paternity counseling? Joi: Because....Patrick does not want to believe that this baby is his... Jovan: Who cares! The baby is going to have a father. And a great one. So why does it matter what he thinks? Joi: It matters because I don't think it's fair to my baby to not even have the chance to know it's biological father. And it's not fair to Patrick either. Jovan: Not fair to him? Are you kidding me? He has made it more than clear that he does not want to be a part of this, Joi. He is engaged to Krystalyn. He is goin' to marry her, Joi. He wants nothin' to do with you or this baby. You need to let it go, Joi. Joi: I know but... Jovan: But nothin'. You have some thinkin' you need to do. I have done more than enough to show you how I feel about you. So what are you goin' to do? Joi: I'll let it go. Jovan: Promise me? For real this time, Joi? Joi: I promise. I'm sorry baby. Joi gets up and goes over and hugs Jovan tightly. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Over in the science building, class is getting out and Sy'Mone hurries over to catch up with Patrick. Sy'Mone: Hey Patrick! Patrick: What's up soror. Sy'Mone: Where you headed? Patrick: Um, probably to the dorm. I'm kinda tired. Sy'Mone: Can I walk with you? Patrick: Yeah, alright. Everything alright? Sy'Mone: Mmm hmm. Patrick: Okay. Patrick gathers his books and walks with Sy'Mone out of the building. Patrick: So what's up soror? Sy'Mone: Um.....I really don't know where to start, so I'm just gonna come out and say it. Patrick: Say what? Sy'Mone: I know about you and Joi. Silence Patrick: I don't know what you are talkin' about. Sy'Mone: Patrick, I'm not gonna say anything to Krys so you don't have to pretend. I've always known so if I was gonna say somethin', I would have by now. Patrick: Say somethin' about what? Sy'Mone: About the fact that Joi is carryin' your child! __________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 2 Continued... Just then Tierra walks up to Denitra and LaShonda's table. Tierra: Hey ya'll.... Denitra and Lashonda look up at Tierra, look at each other and then look away. Tierra: Wow, so it's like that? Silence Tierra: That's messed up, ya'll. I thought we were girls. Denitra looks up. Denitra: Yeah, I thought so too until you punked out on us. Tierra: I didn't punk out on ya'll. I stood up for myself. Kinda like you should have done with me. Thank goodness we all got out while we still could. LaShonda: Excuse me? Tierra: Oh please don't tell me ya'll are still foolin' around with Mona. Silence Tierra: Nitra? Denitra: What? Tierra: Ya'll are not still messin' with Mona and this AKA stuff, are you? Silence Tierra: You girls really need to get out now. I'm serious. I......I wish I could say more but trust me....Mona is lyin'. LaShonda: And how can you be so sure, Tierra? Tierra: I just........I know, okay? Denitra: How? How do you know? If you don't have any proof, then it's just hearsay as far as I"m concerned. Tierra: Okay look.......I'm not supposed to say anything but.....I don't wanna see you get hurt so....the reason I know Mona is lying is because I've been.... Tierra looks up and sees Dashia starring at her from across the cafeteria. Tierra: I'm sorry. I have to go. I promise to try and call you later. Just promise me you'll stop all this Mona foolishness. I'll explain later, I promise! Tierra hurries away from the table and leaves the caf. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 3 Continued... Sy'Mone: Patrick, I'm not gonna say anything to Krys so you don't have to pretend. I've always known so if I was gonna say somethin', I would have by now. Patrick: Say somethin' about what? Sy'Mone: About the fact that Joi is carryin' your child! Patrick: Again, I have no idea what you are talkin' about. I barely even know Joi. Sy'Mone: Patrick, stop it! I knew all along when you and Joi where messin' around. Silence Sy'Mone: Okay fine if you are gonna play that role, I just wanted to tell you one thing....I told Joi to leave you out of this. Jovan is more than happy to be the father of her baby, but I'm sure you know that she is still determined to prove to you that this is your child. I told her to just leave you out of it. So if she comes to you.... Patrick: She's not goin' to come to me. Sy'Mone: What? Patrick: I said she's not goin' to come to me. There's nothin' to come to me about. Again, soror, I think you must have me confused with someone else. I'm engaged to Krystalyn and I barely know Joi. Sy'Mone: I can't believe you are actin' like this. If I were Joi, I wouldn't want to prove anything to a jerk like you! Patrick: Are you done? Sy'Mone: Yes, actually, I am! I have nothin' more to say to you about this. Patrick: Good! Patrick walks off, leavin' Sy'Mone furious. Sy'Mone takes out her cell phone and dials speed dial 3. She means to press 2 and this connects her to Krystalyn's cell phone, instead of Joi's. Voicemail: This is an automated voice system. Please leave your message. Beep...... Sy'Mone: Girl! I just saw Patrick and tried to talk to him about the baby. Do you know he had the nerve to act like he doesn't even know you? What a jerk! Do me a favor girl and forget about him. Take my advice. He is no good! Call me. Lata....
