Season 2 - Episode 22 We resume our episode this week with Kyle and Stasha, who are taking a walk around campus. Kyle’s cell phone begins to ring. Kyle: Oh, um...sure. Dr. Crawford: Great, we'll see you over here in about fifteen minutes. Kyle hangs up the phone and looks over at Stasha. Kyle: That was Dr. Crawford. They made a decision. Stasha: Wow. That was quick. Kyle: Yeah, it was. Not sure if that is good or bad. Stasha: Well don't get all excited. You don't know what the outcome is. A quick call could be a good thing. Kyle: Yeah, I guess. Well I guess I'd better get over there. Stasha: Do you want me to come over there with you? Kyle: Nah, I'll be okay. Stasha: You sure? Kyle: No, I'm not. Stasha: I'm coming with you and I'm not takin' no for an answer. Kyle: Thanks, Stash. Kyle and Stasha turn around and begin to walk together toward the Administration building together.... ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Over at the apartment of Jovan and Joi, Krystalyn has just arrived to meet with Jovan.... (Knock Knock) Jovan: Oh that must be Krystalyn. Jovan gets up and goes over to open the door. Jovan: Hey Krys. Krystalyn: Hi Jovan.... Jovan: Come on in! Jovan moves to the side, letting Krystalyn walk in past him. She sees Joi sitting on the couch. Krystalyn: Oh....Joi....hi.... Joi: Oh hi Krys! I mean...Krystalyn....well um...big sister.... Krystalyn: Stop. Please. Joi: Sorry.... Just then, Joi's cell phone begins to ring. Joi: Oh....it's Sy'Mone.. Joi: Hello? Uh...mmm hmm....now? Um okay...I mean, yes ma'am..... Joi hangs up the phone and begins to race toward the bedroom. Jovan looks over at Krystalyn and Krystalyn looks away. Jovan: That's odd....could you excuse me for a minute? Krystalyn: Sure. Jovan goes into the bedroom to find Joi racing around changing clothes. Jovan: Are you okay? Joi: That was Sy'Mone. We have to meet. Jovan: I thought there was no set tonight. Joi: I thought so too! Seems we have an emergency meeting! And I have to be there in five minutes! ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 1 Continued... Over at the administration building, Stasha and Kyle have arrived for Kyle to meet with the Dean and the University Psychiatrist, Dr. Crawford. Dr. Crawford: Mr. Cooper....please come in. Stasha squeezes Kyle's shoulder. Stasha: I'll be right out here waiting for you, okay? Kyle gives her a half smile before turning to go into the Dean's office. Dr. Crawford closes the door behind him. Dr. Crawford: Mr. Cooper...please...have a seat. Kyle sits on the couch. Kyle: Dean. Dean Allen: Kyle... how are you? Kyle: Ehh I've been better. Dean Allen: I understand. Dr. Crawford picks up a folder and begins to look through it, before he begins to speak. Dr. Crawford: Kyle.....Dean Allen and I have had a long discussion about what's going on with you. Kyle: Okay. Dr. Crawford: Before we tell you what we've come up with, the Dean wanted to talk with you himself. Dean Allen: Kyle, I've known you for what is it....three years now? Kyle: Yes, sir. Dean Allen: You've always been an excellent student....football player....class leader....fraternity member.....son, I simply cannot understand what is going on with you this semester. Your professor's have been complaining that you haven't been coming to class....you haven't been turning in assignments on time....your football coaches can't seem to ever get in touch with you....and now this episode with the hospital....I just don't understand....what is going on? Kyle: Nothing. Dean Allen: Kyle, please....it must be something. Please, Kyle...I'd really like to help you. Kyle: I said it was nothing, okay? Dr. Crawford: No, Kyle, unfortunately it's not okay. If there is some circumstance or life situation that is going on, you need to tell us son, otherwise we aren't going to be able to help you. Kyle: Like I said...it's nothing. I just been busy. Dr. Crawford: Okay......well Kyle...unfortunately Dean Allen and I have come to a decision and based on your current situation, we believe the best course of action for you at this time is to take a leave of absence for the rest of the semester.... _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Over at Jeff's apartment, Kiaterria has just woken up from a nap. Jeff: Tee, you up? Kiaterria turns around to see Jeff standing in the doorway. Kiaterria: Yeah, I am now. I must have dozed off.... Jeff: Yeah, you did! Kiaterria: How long was I asleep? Jeff looks down at his watch. Jeff: Ehh....about an hour. Kiaterria: It's been a long week. I'm exhausted. Jeff: Yeah, I hear you. You hungry? Kiaterria: I sure am! Jeff: Good. I cooked. Kiaterria sits up quickly. Kiaterria: You cooked? Jeff: Yes! Why is that so hard to believe? Kiaterria: Boy! You know you can't cook! Jeff starts to laugh. Jeff: Okay, Okay....maybe I can't. But the Chinese spot can. Come on....I ordered some food. Kiaterria: Yum! What did you get me? Jeff: Your favorite, of course! Kiaterria: General Tso's? Jeff: Yes! Now come on before it gets cold. Kiaterria gets up and walks out to the front and sits down to the table. Kiaterria: Thank you so much, honey. I really appreciate this. Jeff: Not a problem. I just want you to relax. You seem so stressed out lately. Kiaterria: Yeah, I am. Jeff: You finally gonna tell me what's goin' on? Kiaterria: I guess so. I mean it's kinda private family business but....I trust you....but you have to swear to me you won't tell anyone, Jeff. This is really important. Kiaterria takes a deep breath. Kiaterria: Well........it's Kyle...... Jeff: Yeah where is that little punk cousin of yours? I haven't seen him around the gym lately. He better get in there or he's gonna be way behind when the season starts! Jeff starts to laugh. Kiaterria lowers her head and sits in silence. Jeff: Tee....what's up? Did I say somethin' wrong? Kiaterria: It's just....I don't know if there is gonna be a season for Kyle..... Kiaterria looks up at Jeff with tears in her eyes. Kiaterria: Jeff.....Kyle.....Kyle is HIV positive.... _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 2 Continued... Jovan: I guess our little meeting is being postponed, huh? Krystalyn: I don't understand? Jovan: Joi said that she just got a call for a set tonight. Krystalyn: Oh did she? Oh...well I have nothing to do with that. That's Sy'Mone's line. Jovan: But uh.......... Joi comes racing out of the room. Joi: Big Sister.....I didn't know.... Krystalyn: I told you before, when we are in the presence of non members of my sorority, you are not to refer to me by that name. Joi: I'm sorry. I guess I will see you later on. Krystalyn: No, you won't. It's just the line and Sy'Mone tonight. Joi looks over at Jovan. Joi: Oh..... Jovan: Well you know, Krys, since Joi is leaving, maybe we should do this meeting later. Krystalyn: But, we have to get this stuff done tonight, remember? Besides....I'm sure Joi won't mind if I stayed....would you, Joi? Joi (hesitantly): Uhhhhhhhh....no, I don't mind...... Jovan: Are you sure, Joi? Joi: Mmm hmm.... Krystalyn: You see. She said she doesn't mind. So then I guess we'll see you later, Joi. Joi: Um, yeah I guess so.... Krystalyn: Don't worry. I'll take good care of Jovan while you're gone.... Krystalyn gives Joi a fake grin before going over to the kitchen table to sit down.... __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 3 Continued... Kiaterria: Well........it's Kyle...... Jeff: Yeah where is that little punk cousin of yours? I haven't seen him around the gym lately. Jeff: Wh...What? Kiaterria begins to cry. Kiaterria: It's true....he just found out. He was cheating on Stasha with Karissa and now they both have it....and Stasha broke up with him....it's just a mess.... Jeff: Wow. What about Stasha? Is she okay? Kiaterria: Yeah, she's fine. Jeff: Wow. Baby. That's heavy. I had no idea what you were going through. Come here.... Jeff pulls Kiaterria close to him and begins to hug her. Jeff: Is that why he was in the hospital? Kiaterria: Well....something like that. That's a whole other story. Jeff: Oh baby...I'm so sorry. You know Kyle isn't my favorite person, but I would never wish anything like this on him. Kiaterria: I know. Jeff: What a shame....I wonder what coach will say.... Kiaterria: Well I don't think he was planning on telling him just yet. Jeff: Oh. Well I mean when I tell him. Kiaterria sits up and looks at Jeff. Kiaterria: What do you mean? You can't tell him. This is private. Jeff: Tee....I'm the team captain and if one of my players health is in jeopardy, it's my responsibility to protect him.....
