Season 2 - Episode 30

We resume our episode this week Krystalyn and Laray in their room...

Krystalyn: You heard that Kyle is leavin' for the rest of the semester?

Laray: What? Why?

Krystalyn: Soror, I have no idea. I been askin' everybody and nobody is really sayin'.

Laray: Well you know he was in the hospital. They say he took some pills..

Krystalyn: What? Are you serious?

Laray: Yes, girl. That's what Nate told me.

Krystalyn: Wow, that's crazy. So how are things goin' with you and Nate?

Laray: Um, okay, I guess.

Krystalyn: That doesn't sound too good.

Laray: It's fine. What about you and Pat?

Krystalyn: What about us?

Laray: Ya'll ain't worked it out yet?

Krystalyn: Worked it out? Are you serious? Laray, he cheated on me! There's nothin' to work out!

Laray: Yeah, but....

Krystalyn: But what? You think I should give him another chance? After all that?

Laray: I'm not sayin' that.

Krystalyn: Well then what are you sayin'?

Laray: I'm not sayin' anything.

Silence

Krystalyn: I'm sorry, Laray. I just....

Laray: I know. You don't have to explain.

Krystalyn: Where the heck is Sy'Mone? She was supposed to be here twenty minutes ago.

Laray and Krystalyn hear a knock at the door.

Laray: Speak of the devil....

Over at Sean's apartment, he is finishing up cooking, when there is a knock on the door.

Sean stops what he is doing and goes to open the door.

Sean: Hey you.

Jay: Hey.

Sean moves to the side to let Jay in. Jay leans in and gives Sean a big hug.

Jay: Smells good in here!

Sean: Thanks!

Jay: What did you cook?

Sean: Your favorite!

Jay: Lasagna?

Sean: Of course!

Jay: You didn't have to go to so much trouble.

Sean: Of course I did! Tonight is all about you. You want some wine?

Jay: Sure. And tonight is about us! Not just me. It's a big day for both of us.

Sean: Have a seat. I'm almost done. I'll bring you some wine.

Sean disappears into the kitchen and returns a few minutes later with two glasses of red wine. He settles on the couch beside Jay.

Sean: So tell me.......what did your wife say when you gave her the news?

Scene 1 Continued...

Krystalyn: Where the heck is Sy'Mone? She was supposed to be here twenty minutes ago.

Laray and Krystalyn hear a knock at the door.

Laray: Speak of the devil....

Laray gets up to answer the door.

Sy'Mone: Hey sorors!

Laray: Hey Sy'Mone.

Krystalyn just looks up and nods her head.

Sy'Mone: Sorry I'm late!

Krystalyn: Just get in here. We've already wasted enough time.

Sy'Mone: Um, sorry....

Silence

Krystalyn: Alright. What's the status on the girls?

Sy'Mone: They're ready.

Krystalyn: Are you sure?

Sy'Mone: I'm positive, sorors. I've been workin' really hard with them the past few weeks. I know they weren't ready before, but they are now.

Laray: So you think it's time for us to plan their probate?

Sy'Mone: Definitely.

Krystalyn: Well, ultimately I'll be the judge of that.

Sy'Mone: Naturally....

Krystalyn: Call them and get them out for a set. I need to see them to make a determination.

Sy'Mone: Now?

Krystalyn: Yes, now!

Sy'Mone: Okay. I'll go get them and meet you two at the spot in an hour.

Krystalyn: Fine.

Sy'Mone gets up and leaves.

Laray: Wow. I can't believe we're about to have some new sorors.

Krystalyn: Yeah, me either.

Laray: You gonna be okay? I know you and Joi don't exactly see eye to eye. But if they are really ready to cross like Sy'Mone said, Joi is going to be our soror as early as tomorrow. Are you gonna be able to handle that?

At the beach, Joseph Davenport is relaxing in his villa, having his morning coffee when there is a knock on the door.

Joseph puts his paper down and thinks: Hmm....who is that....

Joseph gets up and walks toward the door. He opens the door and an easy grin creeps across his face at the site of Melinda.

Joseph: Linda!

Melinda: Surprise.

Joseph: What in the world are you doing here!

Melinda: Well........I was trying to surprise you, but I can always leave...

Joseph: Girl are you crazy! Get over here and hug me!

Melinda walks up closer to Joseph and leans in to hug him. He hugs her tightly.

Joseph: Girl you are a sight for sore eyes!

Melinda walks in and looks around.

Melinda: I can't understand why your eyes would be sore in a place like this!

Joseph: It is nice, isn't it?

Melinda: Yeah it is! I must be in the wrong field! I never get accommodations like this for education conferences!

Joseph: You hungry?

Melinda: No.........but I'll take some coffee if you have it.

Joseph: One coffee, coming right up!

Joseph walks into the massive kitchen and begins brewing a fresh pot of coffee.

Joseph: Wow. So what prompted this surprise? I'm so happy you did though!

Melinda: I just need a break.

Joseph: Oh yeah? Something going on?

Melinda: You could say that.

Joseph: Linda. What is it? What's going on?

Melinda: What else is always going on with me? Mona!

Scene 2 Continued..

Sean disappears into the kitchen and returns a few minutes later with two glasses of red wine. He settles on the couch beside Jay.

Sean: So tell me.......what did your wife say when you gave her the news?

Jay: I told you I don't want to talk about my wife.

Sean: Baby, don't get defensive. I just wanted to know if she's excited about your new job.

Silence

Sean: Do you want more wine?

Jay: No.

Sean: Jay........don't be like that. I'm sorry. I won't bring her up again.

Silence

Sean: Jay, I'm sorry.......

Jay: That's cool but for real....I don't want to talk about my wife with you. I told you that before, man. I'm serious. Don't speak my wife's name out of your mouth.

Sean: Okay, fine. I'm sorry.

Silence

Sean: Well, I'm definitely excited! I can't believe we're gonna be workin' in the same office!

Jay: I know right. That's what's up. And now we can finally start putting our plan into motion....

Sean: Ahpla has no idea what's in store for them...........

Scene 3 Continued...

Joseph: Wow. So what prompted this surprise? I'm so happy you did though!

Melinda: I just need a break.

Joseph: Oh yeah? Something going on?

Melinda: You could say that.

Joseph: Linda. What is it? What's going on?

Melinda: What else is always going on with me? Mona!

Joseph: What's going on now?

Melinda: Well....and of course this is between you and I....

Joseph: Linda. You know you don't even have to say that.

Melinda: I know. Well.....it seems that Miss Mona was running a fake line.

Joseph: A what?

Melinda: A fake line.

Joseph: A fake line?

Melinda: Yes, Joseph. You're hearing me correctly. My genius daughter was running a fake line of Alpha Kappa Alpha. She took these girls money and everything, Joe.

Joseph: What? Are you serious?

Melinda: I wish I wasn't. Even had them go to the real AKA probate and start doing some type of show of their own!

Joseph: What in the world was she thinking?

Melinda: She wasn't! I've tried to talk to this girl about it and I get no where. It's like talking to a brick wall. Sometimes I think that girl doesn't have the good sense the Lord gave her.

Joseph: Wow. So now what?

Melinda: I have no idea, Joe. The whole thing is a mess. Val is pissed because Shonda was on the line and so she's escalated to the regional level.

Joseph: What? I am surprised. Don't Val know we keep family business in house?

Melinda: Well I thought so too but you know how it is. When it's your child....

Joseph: Yeah that's true.

Melinda: I just finished meeting with the Regional Investigator last week. What a mess. She has to go back to the committee. We're pretty much in a holding pattern at this point.

Joseph: What's the worst that could happen?

Melinda: Expulsion from the sorority. And that's just the sorority. I'm sure Ahpla is going to make me deal with it too. I don't even want to know what's gonna happen there.

Joseph: Oh wow. Linda, I'm sorry. You do need a break!

Just then Joseph's cell phone rings.

Joseph: Do you mind if I get it?

Melinda: No, go ahead. I'll fix my coffee.

Joseph steps away and Melinda begins to pour her coffee. As she sits down at the breakfast bar, Joseph steps back into the room with a stunned look on his face.

Melinda: Joe. You okay?

Joseph: I don't know....

Melinda: What's up?

Joseph: That was my lawyer. Carsen.....she's contesting the divorce....
