Season 2 - Episode 35 We resume our episode this week with Tierra who has just left the AKA house to go home. Tierra gets up and grabs her purse and heads toward her car. Once she gets in her car, her cell phone begins to ring again. She looks again to see that it is Marcellus calling. Tierra takes a deep breath before answering the phone. Tierra: I figured. Marcellus: I'm sure you don't want to see me again. You have no reason to trust me, but if you just give me the chance, I'd really like to explain. Tierra: I'm listening. Marcellus: Can I see you? I'd rather talk in person. Tierra: I don't know, Marcellus.... Marcellus: Please, Tierra. I promise I won't take a long time. Tierra: I don't know.... Marcellus: Please. Just five minutes. Where are you? I'll come to you. Tierra: No. I'm...I"m not at home. Meet me at the diner in twenty minutes. Marcellus: Okay, great. I'm on my way.... ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Over at the administration building, the staff is finishing up for the day. Dr. Mwatsumi: Romona, could you come into my office for a moment? Romona: Sure. Romona follows Dr. Mwatsumi into his office. Dr. Mwatsumi: I have a list of items I need completed right away. Romona: Okay. Dr. Mwatsumi: I need you to call IT and make sure they have all of Jay's passwords and access set up by tomorrow afternoon, I need you to call and have his business cards ordered, I need you to print and fax my itinerary for the conference this weekend to my home, oh and also please call Dr. Vines and set up a lunch meeting for next week. Romona: Dr. Vines? Dr. Mwatsumi: Yes. The head of the Board of Trustees. Romona: Yes, sir. Is that all? Dr. Mwatsumi: That will be it for now. Romona: I'll get on that right away. Dr. Mwatsumi: Thank you, Romona. Romona leaves Dr. Mwatsumi's office and heads back to her desk. As she is turning her computer back on, Sean walks out of his office. Sean: There she is! Romona: And who might that be? Sean: You! The hardest working woman at Ahpla! Romona smiles Sean: Girl, you need to get out of here. Romona: I am, as soon as I finish these last minute items.... Sean: Alright. Well don't stay too long. Romona: I won't. So....um....got any plans tonight? Sean: Nah, I'm just gonna kick it at home. Romona: Sean, I never hear you talk about a girlfriend. Are you seeing anyone? Sean: Oh uh....no, not at the moment. Work keeps me too busy for that. Romona: Oh I see. Because I have the perfect girl for you if you're interested.... Sean: Oh...uh....yeah...well you know....I'm so busy these days....I don't really have time to date...but I uh...I'll keep that in mind..... Romona: Whatever you say, Sean! Have a good evening. Sean: You too, girl. Sean leaves and Romona picks up her cell phone and dials a number. Romona: Hey. Yeah, it's me.....sorry but I'm runnin' a few minutes late. Get us a table and order me a drink....I'll see you in about an hour..... ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 1 Continued... At the diner, Tierra has just arrived and finds Marcellus waiting for her in a booth.... Marcellus: Hey. Tierra. Wow....you look amazing. Tierra: Thanks. Marcellus motions to the chair in front of him. Marcellus: Please. Have a seat.... Tierra sits down across from Marcellus. Marcellus: Did you want to order anything? Tierra: No. I'm fine. Marcellus: So how are things? How have you been? Tierra: Things are fine. Marcellus, did you ask me to meet you here for small talk? Marcellus: No. No, I didn't..... Silence Tierra: I don't have all night. Marcellus: I know. I just.....I don't know how to start..... Tierra: The beginning would be nice.... Marcellus: Tierra, the truth is....well....I've been hurt.... Tierra: What? Marcellus: I.....I fall in love so easily....I just....I've given my heart to too many women before and.... Tierra stops him. Tierra: Marcellus, what are you talking about? What does this have to do with anything? I want to know why you keep canceling on me and who that crazy girl from the restaurant was. What does all this I've been hurt crap have to do with anything? Marcellus: The truth is......I....being in ministry......it makes you so vulnerable. People come to you and they trust you. They look up to you.....and.....I Tierra: I'm leaving. You're not saying anything and you're wasting my time. Tierra gets up to leave and Marcellus reaches across to grab Tierra by the arm. Marcellus: Tierra, Please. I.....bo one at Ahpla knows about this....I've never told anyone...until now.....I....I have a son..... ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Over at the home of Melinda Ferguson, she is relaxing when the phone rings. Melinda: Hello? Valerie: Hey Melinda. Melinda: Val? Valerie: Yeah, it's me. Melinda: Hey.... Valerie: Are you still mad at me? Melinda: Why would I be mad at you? Valerie: Well the way you stormed out of the house when Carsen showed up to my house. And I haven't heard from you since. Melinda: Val, I love you. What is going on with us? Valerie: I don't know. I love you too, Melinda. Melinda: Well whatever it is, can we just drop it? Valerie: I guess. I mean that's the thing, Linda. We can't just drop what happened. That's what got us into this in the first place. Everytime Mona does something, you just drop it. And you can't do that. You have to start dealing with some of this stuff. Mona is out of control, Linda. And she has been for a long time. Melinda: I know.....it's just.....I've always wanted to be the type of mother who supported my daughters. You know how my mother was with me. I never wanted to be that type of mother to my girls. Valerie: And you aren't. And you never could be, Linda. But you can't let Mona continue like this. She could have really hurt someone! Melinda: I know. You're right. I guess I just didn't want to face it all. Thanks for being a true friend. Valerie: Hey. You've always been one to me.... Melinda: I really missed you, girl. Valerie: I missed you, too....we have to get caught up! Melinda: Yes, we do, but I can't right now.....I'm meeting Joe in a few minutes so I have to go.... Valerie: Um, what? Melinda: We'll get caught up. I promise. Gotta go, Diva! Melinda hangs up the phone, picks up her car keys and heads out the door.... ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 2 Continued... Over at the Ivy Restaurant, Romona arrives and searches around until she sees the person she is meeting. Romona: Hey girl. Oh I see you ordered me a drink. Thanks. Mona: Apple Martini, right? Romona: Yep! Mona: So what's up girl? What was so important that we had to meet? I'm tired. Romona: Yeah, we'll I'm sure you'll perk up after you get this information. Mona: It better be. Romona: Oh relax. Maybe you should order a martini, too. Mona rolls her eyes. Romona: Well first of all, Dr. Mwatsumi is definitely up to no good. Mona: What do you mean? Romona: Well just today he told me he needs me to set up a lunch meeting with him and Dr. Vines for next week. Mona: Dr. Vines? The head of the board of trustees? Romona: The one and only. Mona: That little rat..... Romona: That's not all. We have a new guy working there, Jay.... Mona: A new person? Romona: Yeah. He started this week. Freshman services. Anyway, I heard Dr. Mwatsumi telling him just today that he wouldn't have to worry about working for Dr. Ferguson because she wouldn't be back. Mona: What! Romona: Exactly. Mona: What is he up to? Romona: I don't know, but he's definitely up to something. So we gotta definitely act quick. Mona: Don't worry. I talked to the Alpha's and they definitely owe me a favor.....we're covered.... Romona: Good. Mona: Now wait....let's get back to this new person....is he cute and is he single? Romona: He is definitely cute.....not sure about single but I don't think it's gonna matter.... Mona: Why? Romona looks around and leans in closer to Mona... Romona (whispering): Because today.....I could have sworn I saw him and Sean in a....hmm.....let's just say it was a somewhat compromising position if you know what I mean.....
______________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 3 Continued... Over at the apartment of Joseph Davenport, Melinda Ferguson has just arrived. Melinda knocks on the door. Joseph opens the door wearing an Omega Psi Phi apron over his clothes. Joseph: Hey baby. Why didn't you use the key I gave you? Melinda: Oh. I guess I forgot I had it. Joseph: Come in. You look beautiful. Melinda: You always say that! Joseph: It's always true.... Melinda walks in and gives Joe a hug and a quick kiss before settling on the couch. Melinda: It smells wonderful in here! Joseph: Thanks! Special meal for a special lady! Melinda: Oh good grief! Joseph comes out of the kitchen and brings Melinda a glass a wine. He sits down on the couch beside her. Joseph: So....how was your day? Melinda: It was great. Guess what? Joseph: What? Melinda: I talked to Val. Joseph: And? Melinda: And we made up. We finally got past whatever silly argument we were having. Joseph: That's great, baby! I know that was really bothering you! I have great news, too. Melinda: What is it? Joseph: I saw Carsen today and talked to her. She's gonna sign the divorce papers! Melinda: Oh wow. Are you okay? How do you feel? Joseph: I'm fine. This is what I've been wanting. What we've been wanting. Or so I thought.... Melinda: No, no....of course I'm happy for you....but you and Carsen shared a lifetime together. That can't be easy to get over...I just wanted to make sure you're okay. Joseph: I'm fine. I'm more than okay. In fact, now I can finally ask you what I've been waiting to ask you for a few months now....now that I'm free.....there is nothing stopping me.....so here it is....Melinda.....will you......
