Season 2 - Episode 6 We resume our episode this week with Laci, who has just arrived to the movies on her date with Kashawn.Laci walks into the restroom. She goes to the mirror to check her hair and just as she is about to walk out of the restroom, she runs into Taylor. Laci: Taylor! Taylor: Soror! Laci: What are you doin' here? Taylor: What do you mean? I told you I wanted to come to the movies! Laci: I know....but I didn't think you were comin' alone.... Taylor: Girl! Is your date here? Oh my gosh! You look so cute! Where is he? I know you don't want to introduce him yet but just point him out so I can see how cute he is. Laci: Taylor....I'd really rather not.... Taylor: Girl stop acting crazy! Taylor grabs Laci by the arm and drags her to the restroom door. Taylor: Now where is he girl? Point him out! I can't wait to see who you are here with! Laci: Taylor, stop it! I told you I wasn't ready to introduce him! Taylor: You ain't gotta introduce me! I just wanna check out what you workin' with, girl! Taylor starts to laugh. Laci begins to shift uncomfortably. Laci looks around in search of Kashawn. He is no where to be found. She sees a tall, nerdy looking boy with glasses by himself in the concession line, waiting to be served. Laci: Uh......there is he is. Taylor: What? Who? Where? Laci points towards the boy with the glasses. Laci: Right there. With the glasses. Taylor: With the green shirt? Laci: Yeah. Taylor: Okay..........he's kinda cute! I didn't know you liked that type girl, but okay.......do your thing, soror! Laci: Thanks! Taylor's cell phone begins to ring. Taylor: Oh shoot! It's my mother. Let me take this. I'll talk to you later, soror. Have a good time on your date! Laci: Thanks. Taylor walks towards the front door to step outside to take her call. Laci begins to walk towards the concession stand and sees Kashawn walking back towards them with a huge tub of popcorn. Laci rushes over and turns him around. Laci: Let's hurry and get a seat! Don't want to get a bad one! Kashawn: Oh. Okay.... Kashawn quickly changes his direction, following Laci towards the theater. ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Over at the home of Melinda Ferguson, Melinda has just received a disturbing call from her best friend, Valerie Edwards. Mona's ears perk up and she turns to look at her mother before nervously going back to the dishes. Melinda: Lashonda? Valerie:Yes, I don't know what is goin' on with her, Linda. She's been actin' so strangely lately. I mean I know she has a very nice boyfriend. Brian....do you know him? Melinda: Oh yes, I know Brian. He's an Alpha, right? Valerie: Yes, that's him. He's a very nice young man, so I'd hate to think something is going on with them that she's not tellin' me about. I just don't know what to do, Melinda short of coming up there. Melinda: You know you don't have to do that. Lashonda is my god daughter. I'd be more than happy to find her and see if she's okay.... Mona jumps in to interrupt. Mona: Lashonda? Mommy is something wrong with Lashonda? Melinda: Mona, quiet for a minute. I'm talking to your Aunt Valerie about something very serious. Mona: Well I was just sayin....I'm goin' on campus soon....I can check on her myself if you want me to.... Melinda: No, no Mona. I'm Lashonda's god mother. I think I better handle this one myself and get to the bottom of just what is going on with that girl.... Mona: But mom....you seem busy....you should let me go. Melinda: Hold on, Mona. Let me finish speaking with Valerie. Mona: Okay... Melinda: Val, are you there? Valerie: Yes, I'm here. Melinda: So now tell me more about what's been goin' on. Valerie: I really don't know, Melinda. I mean it started late last semester. She was disappearing all the time. I could barely get a hold of her and whenever I did, she seemed so tired and disoriented. Honestly, I thought she was pledging and just didn't tell me because she wanted to surprise me.... Melinda: No........I don't think the Delta's took a line last semester. Hold on, let me ask Mona. Mona....the Delta's aren't pledging a line right now, are they? Mona: No mommy. Uh........why do you ask? Melinda: Thanks, dear. No, Val....the Delta's aren't doin' a line right now. Valerie: Well so it can't be that. Unless....... Melinda: Unless what? Valerie: You don't think she's pledging another organization, do you? _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 1 Continued... After the movie, Kashawn and Laci exit the theater, still laughing. While walking out, Laci begins to look around nervously, while Kashawn tries to grab her hand. Kashawn: Laci, is there somethin' wrong? Laci jumps. Laci: Huh? What? What did you say? Kashawn moves closer to her and puts his arms on her shoulder. Kashawn: I asked if somethin' was wrong. Are you okay? You've been sort of jumpy all night. Laci: Huh? Jumpy? What do you mean? Kashawn laughs. Kashawn: Laci, relax.....what's up? Is somethin' on your mind? Laci (speaking fast): Oh no....I'm fine. I'm ready to go. Are you ready to go? We should go. Kashawn: Sure. Is there anything else you'd like to do? Are you hungry? Laci: Um.........no, I think I'm okay. Kashawn: Okay. I'll take you home, then. Laci and Kashawn begin to walk out of the theater towards Kashawn's car. Once they reach the car, Kashawn goes to open Laci's door and he stops and playfully pins her up against the car. Kashawn: I had a really good time tonight, Lace. Laci smiles Laci: You did? Kashawn: I did....it was a lot of fun. Laci: I had a good time, too. Kashawn: Does that mean you might wanna do it again sometime? Laci: I'd love that.... Kashawn leans in and lightly kisses Laci on her cheek before moving in and kissing her on her lips. Laci completely looses all of her inhibitions and closes her eyes and lets go and begins to enjoy Kashawn's embrace. Kashawn pulls back slowly and smiles at her. She smiles back and stares into his eyes for a few minutes. Kashawn steps back to open Laci's car door. Laci steps out to get into the car and looks up to see Taylor standing behind the car with a look of shock on her face. Laci: Taylor! Hi! I didn't even hear you walk up! How uh...how long have you been standing there? Taylor: Long enough to know you're a liar.... _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Over in Stasha and Karissa's room, Stasha and Kyle are spending time together. The room phone begins to ring and Stasha gets up to answer the phone. Stasha: Hello? Stasha begins to frown. Stasha: Karissa, what are you sayin? I can't understand you. Calm down! Where are you? Stasha continues to listen. Stasha: I'm here in the room with Kyle. What? Okay.... Stasha hangs up the phone slowly and looks up at Kyle. Kyle begins to tremble. Kyle: Wh....what's wrong? Stasha: I don't know....that was Karissa....she was cryin' and yellin'....I could barely understand her. All I could make out was that she was on her way over here now and she has somethin' very important to tell me..... Kyle: Important? About what? Stasha: She didn't say....I mean I dunno...maybe she did...like I said....I could barely understand her. Kyle: Karissa's kinda dramatic, though. It's probably notnin'. Stasha: I dunno, Kyle. She seemed pretty upset. Besides, why are you sayin' she's dramatic! You barely even know Karissa like that! Kyle: Yeah....I guess you're right. Stasha: Wow,, I hope everything is okay. She sounded pretty freaked. Kyle: Hmm. I'm kinda hungry. You hungry? Wanna get dinner? Stasha: Kyle! I just told you Karissa was on her way. Why would I leave? Stop bein' silly! I have some snacks. Stasha begins sifting through some bags, looking for snacks. Kyle (sighs deeply): Stash, I need to tell you somethin'.... Stasha: What? Kyle: I....we....we need to talk.... Stasha: I'm sorry, baby, what did you say? Kyle (speaking loudly): Stasha! Please! The snacks can wait! I need to talk to you. Just...just sit down....I need to say this to you while I still can. Stasha: Oh baby, what's wrong? This sounds serious.... Kyle: It is.... Stasha sits down across from Kyle and takes his hands into hers. Stasha: Whatever it is baby, you know that I love you and.. Kyle: Stasha, please just let me say this... As soon as Kyle is ready to speak, the door bursts open and Karissa comes running through the door crying.... _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 2 Continued... Mona: No mommy. Uh........why do you ask? Melinda: Thanks, dear. No, Val....the Delta's aren't doin' a line right now. Valerie: Well so it can't be that. Unless....... Melinda: Unless what? Valerie: You don't think she's pledging another organization, do you? Melinda: Absolutely not! That's ridiculous! Has she ever talked to you about not wanting to be a Delta? Valerie: No. Melinda: Oh, Val, I'm sure she's fine, but you know, it just might be time for a visit from Auntie Linda.... Valerie: Thanks, Melinda. I really appreciate it. Melinda: Of course, Val. Valerie: Call me if you find out anything. Melinda: Of course! Smooches, lovey! Valerie: Smooches! Valerie and Melinda hang up the phone. Mona: Mommy, what's wrong with Lashonda? Melinda: Nothin' dear. Your Auntie Val is just a little worried, that's all. That's how mothers get sometimes. Nothing to worry about, I'm sure. Mona: So um.....you're gonna go see Shonda? Melinda: Well yes....but actually, I'm not even sure where she lives on campus anymore. Do you? Mona: Um, sure. See mommy....that's why you should let me go by. Melinda: You know maybe I'll call her first.... Melinda goes over to pick up the phone. Mona: Mommy Wait! It's so late! Melinda looks over at the clock. Melinda: Mona, stop it. It's only 9:00! Silly girl! Melinda picks up the phone and begins to dial Lashonda's number. Lashonda: Hello? Melinda: Hello Lashonda. This is your Aunt Melinda. Lashonda: I know....um....hi...how are you? Melinda: I'm fine, dear. How are you? Lashonda: I'm okay. I'm actually out to dinner with my boyfriend and my friends right now. One of my friend's is transferring and we're giving her a going away party. Melinda: Oh that sounds so nice! You know one of the best parts of Ahpla for me as a student was the friendships I made....like your mother and I. Silence Melinda: Well I was hoping we could get together some time soon. That is, if you can squeeze in some time for your old Auntie Linda.... Lashonda: I always have time for you, Aunt Linda. Melinda: Good, then! Are you free for lunch tomorrow? Lashonda: Yes, ma'am. Melinda: Alright, then. So I'll pick you up at 1:00 outside the Student Activities Center. You pick the place. Anywhere you want to go! Lashonda: That sounds nice. I can't wait to see you, Aunt Linda. As a matter of fact, I was going to call you this week, anyway. Melinda: Oh were you? Lashonda: Yes. I have something very important I need to tell you. Melinda: Well do you want me to come and pick you up tonight? Lashonda: No ma'am. It can wait until tomorrow. Melinda: Well, okay, then. So I'll see you tomorrow then. Lashonda: Okay. I'll be there! Oh and Aunt Linda? Melinda: Yes, dear? Lashonda: Don't bring Mona or anyone with you. I need to speak with you alone.... _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 3 Continued... Stasha sits down across from Kyle and takes his hands into hers. Stasha: Whatever it is baby, you know that I love you and.. Kyle: Stasha, please just let me say this... As soon as Kyle is ready to speak, the door bursts open and Karissa comes running through the door crying.... Stasha jumps up and runs over to try and hug Karissa. Stasha: Karissa....what is it.... Karissa runs past Stasha over to Kyle. Kyle looks up just in time for Karissa to slap him. Kyle grabs his face in shock and looks back up at Karissa. Karissa: You...........you......... Stasha: Karissa, stop this! What is goin' on? Karissa: You liar! How could you! You have ruined my life! Kyle stands up and gets into Karissa's face and begins to yell. Kyle: I ruined your life? Are you really serious? I'm the one supposed to be entering the draft this year! Now all that is ruined thanks to you and your nasty so called boyfriend! Karissa: Excuse me! Kyle: You heard me, trick! If this came from anywhere, it sure ain't from me! Stasha (screaming): You two stop this! What is goin' on? Not paying Stasha any attention, Kyle and Karissa continue to scream at each other. Karissa: You didn't even tell me! Were you gonna keep this a secret? Kyle: No! But I wanted to talk to Stash first. Karissa: Well it's too late for that! Now I have to tell Shakir! Kyle: Oh I am quite certain he already knows! Karissa: You don't know that for sure! Kyle: Oh really? Cause I ain't been with nobody but you and Stash and I know my girl ain't been with nobody else! Stasha gasps loudly and begins to cry. Kyle and Karissa suddenly realize that Stasha is still in the room with them. They turn to face Stasha, who has now covered her mouth with her hand and has tears spilling out of her eyes. She is shaking her head back and forth no in disbelief and her body begins to heave, as if she is going to vomit. Kyle: Baby...baby...I'm...I'm so sorry...I didn't.... Karissa: Oh just stop it Kyle! Clearly she doesn't want to hear your excuses. Stasha slowly removes her hand and looks Kyle deep into his eyes. Stasha (barely speaking above a whisper) Is.....is it true, Kyle? You slept with Karissa? My....my line sister? Kyle....how could you? Karissa.........why? Kyle doesn't answer but stares at her with an apologetic look. Kyle: Baby...I'm so....sorry....I didn't want you to find out this way...I swear. Karissa begins to back up and sits down silently on her bed. Stasha begins to sob and is unable to hear anything Kyle is saying over her own tears. Suddenly she begins to feel so hot that she can no longer stand to be in the room with them any longer. She jumps up and runs furiously out of the room. She hears both Karissa and Kyle yelling her name behind her, but she doesn't stop....she doesn't turn around....she doesn't even slow down...she just continues to run....
