Season 2 - Episode 8 We resume our episode this week with Melinda, who has just picked up Lashonda for their lunch date. Melinda is dressed in a green jean capri and jacket set with a lime green top on underneath. Lashonda runs out wearing blue jeans and an Ahpla University T-Shirt. Lashonda: Hey Auntie Linda! Melinda: Hello dear! Get in! Lashonda opens the door and gets into the car and puts on her seatbelt. Melinda: Any place in particular you want to eat? Lashonda: Not really....anything is better than campus food! Melinda starts to laugh. Melinda: Oh come on! It's not that bad! I hired a whole new leadership team for the housing and food services last year! Lashonda: Yeah it's not terrible but you know....you get tired of campus food all the time.... Melinda: I hear you. When I was a student at Ahpla....the food was terrible! Lashonda: Really? Melinda: Oh Shonda! Some days it wasn't even edible! Your mother and I would piece together all the change we could find just to order out! Lashonda: The good old days, huh? Melinda: Something like that! You all don't know how good you have it! Lashonda: I guess not! Melinda: Have you ever been to the Pearl Cafe? Lashonda: Oh that gourmet sandwich shop? Melinda: Yes, that's it. Lashonda: Nope. I heard it's good though. I can't afford that place. Melinda: It's wonderful. And that's just where we'll go! My treat, of course..... Lashonda: Okay! So what I wanted to talk to you about....well you know....I'll wait until we get to the restaurant.... ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Over at Taylor's apartment, she is studying for a test when her cell phone begins to ring. She looks down and does not recognize the number and reluctantly answers... Taylor: Hello? Laci: Taylor.... Taylor: Who is this? Laci? Laci: Yes... Taylor: I'm hanging up. Laci: No! No! Taylor, please..... Taylor: Where are you callin' me from? Laci: I'm usin' someone else's phone. I know you wouldn't answer if you thought it was me. Taylor: Well you got that right! Laci: Taylor....please....I just want to talk for a few minutes. Taylor: Talk about what liar? Silence Taylor: Exactly what I thought. I'm hanging up. Laci: No...Taylor wait.... Taylor: What? Laci: I'm sorry.... Silence Laci: Soror.....I'm really really sorry.... Taylor: You hurt my feelings. Laci: I know. Taylor: No you don't know, Laci. I mean I didn't pledge at Ahpla so you know how hard it's been for me making any friends. You're the only soror in the chapter that I felt like I finally had made a connection with and you go and do this! Laci: I'm so....sorry.... Taylor: How could you do this to me, Lace? Laci: I swear I didn't want you to find out like this. Taylor: Well I guess this is a true test of sisterhood, huh? Laci: I guess so.... Taylor: I'm still pissed at you Laci. Laci: I know. Taylor: How did Kashawn take it when you told him? Laci: Told him what? Taylor: That you aren't goin' to see him anymore... ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 1 Continued... Over at the Pearl Cafe, Melinda and Lashonda have gotten a table and just ordered their lunch. Lashonda:This place is really nice! Melinda: Yeah it is! I really like it. The food is wonderful. Lashonda: I can't wait for my sandwich! Melinda: Good. I'm glad you are enjoyin' yourself. So what have you been up to, Shonda? Lashonda: Not much. Melinda: You never come by to see your Auntie Linda anymore! Lashonda: I know...I just been so busy.... Melinda: Oh you don't have to explain! I was a college student before, too! I remember how it was! I wouldn't have wanted to be bothered with my old ancient auntie, either! (Melinda starts to laugh) Lashonda: Oh Aunt Linda! It's nothin' like that! Melinda: You don't have to explain baby! As long as you know where to find me when you need me. Melinda reaches across the table and pats Lashonda on the hand. Melinda: So how are your grades? Lashonda: Um, pretty good.... Melinda: Pretty good? Lashonda: Yeah. Not doin' too well in College Algebra but I just got a tutor, so hopefully that will help. Melinda: Who do you have? Lashonda: Professor Mills. Melinda: Oh yeah, he's tough.....well hang in there...you'll make it. Lashonda: Yeah, I know. Melinda: So tell me about your boyfriend.... Lashonda begins to blush and smile. Lashonda: I mean......what do you want to know? Melinda: Oh........I remember that smile........he's special, huh? Lashonda: Yeah, he is. He's a really nice guy. Melinda sips her iced tea and nods her head in a agreement. Melinda (sitting her glass back down on the table): Oh absolutely. I know Brian. He's a very nice young man. Lashonda: Auntie Linda.....there was one thing I wanted to talk to you about.... Melinda: Okay. What is it? I'm all ears. Lashonda: Um.....well......it's about.....uh.... Melinda: Yes? What is it dear? Lashonda: It's about.... Lashonda stops when she notices that something behind her has caught Melinda's eye. She turns to look and sees Mona walking over towards the table.... ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Over at the dorm of Stasha and Karissa, Karissa has just arrived back from class. She walks slowly into an open door, filled with several unfamiliar faces packing and moving boxes around. She looks around with a confused look and begins to speak slowly.... Karissa: Um, excuse me? One of the strangers looks up at Karissa and without saying a word, continues with his task. Karissa (louder): Excuse me? Hello? Can someone please tell me who are you are what you are doin' in my room. Just then Stasha walks up behind her and moves past her quickly. Without turning to look at her, she begins to speak. Stasha: They are friends that I asked to come and help me. Karissa: Help you with what? Stasha: Help me with my things! Karissa: Your things? For what? Stasha: What does it look like, Karissa? I'm moving! Karissa: What? No! Why? Stasha turns around to look Karissa in the eye. Stasha: Do you really want to go there? Silence Stasha: I didn't think so. Karissa: But...but where are you goin'? Stasha: That's no concern of yours, now is it? Karissa: Stasha, we're still sorors... Stasha (cutting her off): Stop right there, Karissa. You are no sister of mine. Karissa: You don't mean that. Stasha: Oh I mean it. After I get my things out, I never want to speak to you again. Karissa: Well that's just too bad, Stash. You're my line sister and I'm not just gonna give up on you that easily. I'm gonna make sure we get through this. Stasha: Yeah, whatever. Karissa: Stasha, have you talked to Kyle anymore? Stasha: I have nothin' to say to him.....or you for that matter. Karissa: You really need to talk to him, Stash. There's....there's something else you need to know? Stasha: What is it? You two are engaged? Oh let me guess....you cut out the middle man and just eloped! Well congratulations! I hope you'll be happy! Before she can respond, Stasha moves past Karissa, purposely bumping into her on the way out the door to go outside to wait for her friend with the pick up truck to move her things. As she is waiting, she sees Kiaterria walking up towards the dorm.... ______________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 2 Continued... Taylor: How did Kashawn take it when you told him? Laci: Told him what? Taylor: That you aren't goin' to see him anymore... Laci: What? Why would I tell him that? Taylor: Excuse me? What do you mean why would you tell him that? Laci: Exactly what I said! Why would I tell him that? Taylor: Don't tell me you're actually plannin' to continue seeing him! Laci: Taylor....I like Kashawn.... Taylor (screaming): I can't believe you! Laci: Taylor, it's over between you two! What's the big deal! Taylor: The big deal is that I love Kashawn and I'm not over him! And you of all people should know that better than anybody! Silence Laci: Soror, I truly am not tryin' to hurt you in this situation. Taylor: Fine. Then stop dating him. Laci: I can't do that. I really like Kashawn and I want to see where it goes.... Taylor: I can't even believe you are sayin' this to me! Do you not care anything about me? I thought you were my friend! Laci: I am your friend, Taylor. Taylor: What about our sisterhood? What above the vows that we both took to be loyal not only to our sisterhood but to our sisters? Laci: Look Taylor, I don't want to fight.... Taylor: You don't want to fight but you're messin' around with my man? Laci: Kashawn is not your man! Taylor: And he never will be again as long as he has tricky girls like you after him! Laci: Watch it, Taylor.... Taylor: Or what? Argh! I never thought I had to worry about this kinda stuff with you! I can't talk to you anymore right now....as a matter of fact....forget my number, okay? Taylor slams the phone down and Laci begins to cry. _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Scene 3 Continued... Karissa: Stasha, have you talked to Kyle anymore? Stasha: I have nothin' to say to him.....or you for that matter. Karissa: You really need to talk to him, Stash. I have a lot on my mind. Kiaterria: Soror you okay? Stasha: Yeah, I'm fine. Stasha looks away from Kiaterria so that she won't see the tears that are forming in her eyes. Suddenly, she can't hold back anymore and begins to sob. Kiaterria runs over and begins to hug Stasha. Kiaterria: Oh soror..........what is it? Is somethin' wrong with you and Kyle? Did you have a fight? Stasha chuckles at the question. Stasha: A fight....yeah, you could say that.... Kiaterria: What did my cousin do now? Where is he anyway? Stasha: I don't know. I haven't spoken to him. Kiaterria: My aunt called looking for him. Stasha: Oh.....Mrs. Cooper....I feel so badly. She's called me and I was so short with her. Kiaterria: Yeah, she mentioned that. Stasha: Is she angry with me? I love Kyle's mother....I would hate for her to.... Stasha begins to cry again. Kiaterria: Stash, what in the world is goin' on? Stasha begins to wipe her face. Stasha: Oh Tee....I don't even know where to start. Just then, Stasha's friend with the truck pulls up and asks her where he should park. While he is parking, Kiaterria continues to talk. Kiaterria: Are you moving? Stasha: Yes, I am. Kiaterria: Okay now you've got me worried. What is goin' on around here? Stasha: Tee.....your cousin cheated on me.....with Karissa.... Kiaterria's mouth drops wide open Stasha: That was pretty much my reaction, too.... Kiaterria: Oh Stash....how did you find out? Stasha: Long story.... Kiaterria gets angry and starts to talk to herself. Kiaterria: I can't believe them! I thought they had stopped! Stasha: Excuse me? Kiaterria: I said I can't believe that creep! I thought he had stopped! Stasha: So you knew about this.......
